Fortunately, TechHive just had a legitimate article on "How to rip (copy) Blu-ray...", by Jon L. Jacobi. I came to it by way of PC World, myself, so I think it threads the needle of required niceness properly. It is an involved process, as he describes it, but at least just having to remove the live-action stuff should make any editing easier.
I'm not a big enough fan of Oshii to want this myself. There's a good review of Angel's Egg over on Anime World Order, and it sounds way too artsy for me. Will try and post a link: https://www.techhive.com/article/3337501/how-to-copy-blu-ray-discs.html |

You do realize it uses some footage from Angel's Egg spliced in, not the entire film. |
