hmmm, interesting pricing, gota give Sony some credit, you save a bit for getting the box. And i'm not normally one to give Sony credit, their prices at least stay in line with industry standard, Reminds me a bit of Bandai Ent's Zeta gundam release.

I guess they thought the Bandai Visual pricing was the way to go for the first season. [More like HBO, actually.] They're gonna have a lot of box sets lying around, though.

That is the basic price for a non-thin pack boxed set. -Gabe |

I suspected Sony would release the series like this somehow. Though I haven't seen the series, I'm a big fan of the movie, novel, and manga, so I planned on getting the box. The price makes me reconsider my decision though....... Maybe someday.

And i have quite a few geneon boxed sets, and fully perchased shows via single dvd. Also take a look at TRSI, a Gotanime member could pull it for under 100 and still get free shipping. -Gabe |

The only reason people complain about a (25 Episode) series costing $110 is because they're spoiled by cheap as dirt re-releases. For a first-run release, it's a very good price, and far below Geneon's comparable length sets (which run nearer to $200). |

MSRP wise the trend is 50-60 for 13 episodes, this falls in that range, and with sales and smart shopping most buyer will pay between 40-50 for every 13 episodes.
120 or what ever discount one might pull on it, might seem a bit steep for a one time fee, but looking at the price of the single discs one will pay MORE in the long run. |

I wonder what kind of stuff comes with the collector's set. If anything, it should at least come with a cool looking box.
This is about $20 more expensive than I thought they would release it as. But it shouldn't be too hard to find it for $85. |

People were actually talking on Toonzone about how Amazon only listed English for language in the DVD information:
Product Details * Actors: Blood + * Format: Dubbed, Full Screen, Subtitled, NTSC * Language: English * Region: Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only) * Rating UNRATED * Studio: Sony Pictures * DVD Release Date: March 4, 2008 * Run Time: 600 minutes * Average Customer Review: 1 Review 5 star: (0) 4 star: 100% (1) 3 star: (0) 2 star: (0) 1 star: (0) See all customer reviews... 4.0 out of 5 stars 1 customer review (1 customer review) * ASIN: B001152THA (http://www.amazon.com/Blood%2B-Part-One-Blood-%2B/dp/B001152THA/) It still says subtitles though. Is this a mistake? |

I'm pretty sure they have a Japanese language track. I don't doubt that one bit.
Other than that, it took them long enough. xD Death Note already has 2 domestic DVDs out and they're not even halfway through the series yet. I wonder what took them so long. I'm pondering on the boxed set though, is it a series I can do without buying that is... |

Finally it arrives. At least they're giving a box set of the first half right out the gate, so we don't have to deal with the inconvenience of waiting 2 months for every 5 episodes, when the show is 3/4 the way over on Adult Swim. If I wasn't so always broke, I'd definitely buy the 25 episode box set.

Well what's the vote from this crowd? I'm thinking about getting this but not sure if it's worth a little more than I am paying for GITS. On the other hand, I didn't do the individual volume thing with it. I am paying a little more than this for Tsubasa, for a comparison on the other end of the spectrum.
Is this better than GITS? Better than Tsubasa? What about Fate/Stay Night or Shakugan No Shana, if I like these am I likely to like Blood+ enough for it to be worth the 85$ price @ amazon.com? I'm leaning towards a yes since I haven't budgeted my anime purchases up through march yet, but I don't want to jump and notice something else pop up then I'd want more. |

I'm glad they're starting to come out with the box set or a collectors box set in this case along with the first volume. Then I can just buy the entire thing and not waste my time hunting for every volume. Plus it allows the people who watched it fansubbed and loved the series a chance to get extras and thus it persuades them to buy the LE box. We'll see how Sony handles this whole release.

To me (I haven't ever really seen the series in terms of whole episodes), just that $100+ for the first 25 episodes doesn't seem special. Entire series may cost the same or similar amount.
