Same here. It's a good sign, I'd say. I'd also hate for Akira Kamiya to return to the character and have it perform poorly.

City Hunter might not be the most modern property in terms of its view of gender relationships, if we are going to be frank about that, but it was a still very successful manga and anime with plenty of mainstream appeal. Such a comeback, especially if it's at least decent, is going to trigger a lot of nostalgia among adults who grew up with it.

Code Geass was very popular too, but the approach of the production was less mainstream and more towards otaku. The film seems to be performing very well, despite having a lot less theater screenings than City Hunter. I've heard some mixed comments on the movie, some positive and some negative, but as with with everything, I'll reserve the right to develop my own opinion. I prefer to not judge without seeing for myself.

That moment when you realized that BOTH films were from SUNRISE and when you think about that all the money they were getting to fund more GUNDAMS.

The film would probably have raised more if it did not have as much heavy competition as Aquaman and Code Geass. It was a risky bet to release the film on that date. I think in the end they relied on the nostalgia and old values that the old school fanbase have.

In a time of remakes, I really would like to see a relaunch of City Hunter and Ranma, mainly because the end of these manga haven't been adapted.
