What anime in 2008 can we expect from the studio that has more titles than any other of the Japanese animation studios? I'm considering watching more Toei works online (dubbed or subbed) and wondering what to expect. Note: I'm not trying to promote downloads or watching fansubs here. Though I do watch fansubs and dubs, I'm trying not to bring another debate of the legality of fansubs/downloads here.

Toei's long legacy may soon some to its end, as it is merely continuing the Pretty Cure series and fervently searching for manga to adapt. Its attempts at reproducing visual novels (Key's) have been tried, and though not necessarily "Failing", as the Air movie was quite decent, in my opinion, defeated by KyoAni. It's clear that times have changed since Dragonball and Sailor Moon, and Toei may as well.
But in all honesty, I don't foresee the "Death of Toei" for many years to come. At least its quality hasn't been as sporadic as Doumo's, for example. |
