Something tells me he'll be pissed off when he finds out.
On the upswing, I don't think the writers/directors intended on playing their version of Master Roshi that way...and seeing how most of his antics probably didn't make it into the U.S. TV version - in addition to being downplayed as the series progressed - it's possible that the movie's Master Roshi might be intended to be halfway respectable. |

Despite not having read the script, heard any reviews, or any news to support that idea. I'm still hoping for a little bit of him being a perv. I also hope they keep in some of the comedy. This is earlier in the series, before the Saiyen Saga and such. Never mind Steven Chow is producing. Can you think of anyone else who does martial arts comedy today like he does? |

I seriously doubt that they will have Master Roshi act any other way than noticablly pervy. You have to admit that way Roshi acts in the manga and anime is as much of a major theme in the Dragonball series as long, drawn-out power ups.

Say what you want about the final product, but you can't deny that CYF being willing to take on a part which might be more challenging for him than usual is what makes him a class act all the way.

It clearly says that he joined the cast based on the script, so he must have read it and knows his character though that doesn't tell us how the script portrays his character...

That's why I have faith in the movie. If he joined based on the script, rather than the manga, that means he isn't some fanboy who joins no matter what. He read the script, and it met his satisfaction. That means it must be a good script. That doesn't necessarily equal an automatic great movie, but it's a good sign that the writing is at least good, and makes sense. |

I'm fairly sure he read the script to Bulletproof Monk also.
 Damn you Chow. He was great in his HK movies, but his hollywood movies are godawful. So sad seeing him taking these jobs.

Totally agree with you, the roles Chow Yun Fat played in Hollywood movies are very different from those he played in Hong Kong movies. Apart from Anna and the King, his Hollywood roles are all very commercial, e.g. Pirates of the Caribbean. While his roles in Hong Kong movies are generally more serious. I was shocked when I found out he is playing Master Roshi in DB. I'm just hoping he takes the role because of the challenge, because the role is VERY different from the kind of roles he normally play. But not because he is trying hard to make it big in Hollywood. |
