This is nice. I enjoyed Haikara-san would like to have it on Bluray. Also hope this can lead to an eventual R1 release of A Silent Voice. I have The R2 version and it would be great to not be chained to my PC to watch it.

They're avoiding talking about "A Silent Voice", which is a shame, as they'll be losing money the longer they hold out.
I imported the Japanese Blu-ray as soon as it came out, but I might get the UK BD if they don't get it out soon. Plus, it's hard to beat Justin Sevakis as a compressionist, so they'll have to have better PQ in order to win me over from Anime Limited.

I was gonna mention A Silent Voice as well, but I guess I wasn’t the first to think of it haha. I own the UK bluray myself (and a region free player) as the English dub is very well done, but it would be nice to recommend it to my friends, meaning it really needs a R1 release.
I never saw Miss Modern, but I hope they have digital distrobution rights, as I would like to see it somewhere like Netflix or someplace before I cough up the money to buy it. Would be cool if the blurays come with Digital HD code like for Vudu, but that’s probably wishful thinking haha.

Yeah, I also hope this means a US release for A Silent Voice. God knows it's taken long enough.
Hopefully we'll also get Maquia fairly soon too, because it looks interesting and I'd really like to see it. IIRC, Eleven Arts did say "soon" when asked when we would get news about a blu-ray release.

Yay! I wanted to see Haikara-san in theaters, but I wasn't able to do so. Now that I know it's coming to DVD, I'm buying it the day it comes out, especially since I've been hearing good things about it.

Actually they may not have the home distribution rights yet. I messaged them on Facebook a few weeks ago, it was along the line "Can't go into details, but were work hard with the Japanese production company to bring the movie to the states."
Yeah it's not much, but at least they are trying.

Is producing Blu-Ray and DVD combo packs just too expensive?

DVDs are obsolete. There's no reason shows should be released on them anymore in this HD era.

Maybe because Pony Canyon is that production company?

Oh, nice. Eleven Arts has completely avoided New England for every movie they have shown, so its nice that an alternative is on the way

This is also true for Jersey (well, except one far away theater in the middle of nowhere), it's why I would rather have companies like Toei stick with Fathom Events for their films because this state is basically AMC territory where there are a lot of those theaters. It's also why I'm glad Toei and Viz included the Sailor Moon R movie with S because last year's screening of the former was through Eleven Arts and the lack of theaters to screen it here was ridiculous.
Anyway, I wonder if this new deal could lead to a Blu-ray release of the recent Nanoha film that got brought over.

I saw Haikara-san in theater.
It was pretty good. The title character is adorable and it's a sweet little film without being coma-inducing like some cute films are. I'm definitely up for the sequel and there's a fair chance I'll buy it on home video.
As far as Silent Voice goes, that depends on home video release.
If it's been out on Japanese home video a year, a US release should be no problem. It was exhibited in the US late last year.
The release schedules of anime on home video in the US depend more on Japan's release dates. Europe IS a different Region Code for Blu ray (B) if they choose to enforce it. Of course, there are many region-free Blu ray releases in Europe and a few "B"-coded discs (like the UK release of Metropolis) turned out to be soft-coded discs that ran perfectly fine on Region A players (Japanese, US).
The Japanese home video companies will always want at least 6 months distance between the Japanese release and the American home video edition. Reverse importation is a legitimate concern. They lost a lot of money on some early anime DVD releases that happened in the US before Japan or close to Japanese street date.
Even some of the US releases that are technically close in content to the Japanese edition are being released at least 6 months after the Japanese edition. The first Fate/Stay Night film in the new trilogy got released May/June this year already. It's coming out in the US in November. The basic difference besides cost (the US edition is probably at least $50 cheaper) is the English dub track on the US edition. That wasn't finished in time before the Japanese release and a lot Japanese releases never have the English dialogue track.
