turns it on-
waits for Trypticon transformation....
1 hour later-
waits for Trypticon transformation....
1 eternity and end-credits later-
All it needed was a friggin' Trypticon transformation!!!!!!!!!
Even though it was a little slow, the insect twins/tribe stuff I liked. Helping bridge the gap in time.
It might've been better if the Machine Bros did more mechanicy/techy stuff early in the 1st movie and this one, to hint towards the role they play. Instead it was like random buff guys suddenly going "I am Gundam. Resistance is futile".
it was alright...

Hopefully the next one at least has a decent monster fight or two. As much as I think the recent US Godzilla movie was imperfect, for once I like the Hollywood version of the big G much, much more than I like the current Japanese version of him (Shin Godzilla notwithstanding). So I guess that's interesting?
I sure hope the next Hollywood Godzilla is at least more entertaining than the animated trilogy has been, talk about some baffling pacing and more technobabble than season of Star Trek.

I actually liked it. It's been an interesting ride so far, even if the pacing is awful. I will admit it's definitely not a crowd-pleaser nor does it look pretty for at least half of its runtime. But the technobabble & lore of the world it's trying to present does captivate me.

I'm totally on board with whatever Urobuchi is doing here after seeing this one. I loved the ending, a lot. Not only does Haruo get to go through some development and make a decision, but to make that decision he has to kill two of his allies and let Godzilla destroy humanity's greatest hope at defeating him. And his new girlfriend - who didn't get the best development but also could have been handled worse, she was much better here than in the first one - might even be dead.
Now the characters will just have to stand by and watch as Godzilla battles whatever incarnation of Ghidorah this universe will bring us (hope he's cool). If the series is as much of an extended single film as it seems like it is, hopefully there will be less boring parts (as much as I like a lot of the world and character building) and more action.

I am of a similar mind set, a good chunk of the complaints are the "lack of big Kaiju battles", that is the point because the editing has chosen restraint in regards to showing off mountain sized monsters colliding with one another.
Godzilla Earth has to be restricted in appearances for several reasons, part of it being that there is seldom a contextual reason to show off GEarth roaming around what is essentially HIS backyard, this is one of the differences between many of the Godzilla releases as Humanity is now the definitive invaders as GEarth has claimed dominion for over 10 thousand years.
Another important aspect is scaling, GEarth is supposed to be bigger than a mountain, so if you show off your CGI creature too much his scale won't seem as impressive.
It seems that so far this adaptation of Godzilla is trying to go back to the origin concept that Godzilla itself is "Earth's revenge" against mankinds wanton unchecked growth across the globe, so in practice "Humanity is the rival monster to Godzilla".
