Say what you will, Yuuna can get into my bed any night. Everynight. Never heard of "Ryan" but he is out to lunch on the antiChrist. And Gumball at 10th place?? Talk about short attention span fans...

Everyone has opinions, but I wonder what people even see in Steven Universe and Rick & Morty that they would rate them so high.

Where's Kotobuki Manor? It's not a Youkai Apartment for nothing!

Ghost and human relations will result in the Antichrist? That's new to me. Also, it means it already happened if you remember that particular Ray Stanz scene from the original Ghostbusters.

The Blood-Stained Labyrinth is a much better haunted house story arc from Ghost Hunt and one of my all-time favorite horror stories.

I missed last week's poll but I definitely would have voted for Voltron, it's amazing.

What about Invaders of the Rokujyoma aka Apartment invaders!? Corona Apartments has an even larger selection of oddballs than Yuuna does. And unlike Yuuna, they all want HIS particular apartment (without him in it.) At least at first anyway.

spoiler[Now I realize that those that have read the light novels know that Sanae isn't actually a ghost in this series, however those who have only watched the anime do not know this. And for all intents and purposes she kind of technically is even after it is revealed she isn't. Since ghost Sanae can reappear at any time.]

This show definitely should have been included before Yuuna. With a name like Apartment Invaders, how could you forget it? And as mentioned before Elegant Youkai Apartment Life should make the list too.

I'm happily surprised Family Guy didn't make the list. For years now I have much preferred American Dad over it. Though that didn't make the list. Honestly that doesn't surprise me as it's never gotten the attention Family Guy has. Even Seth himself obviously favors Family Guy.

I am also not surprised in the slightest Rick and Morty was #2. I figured it would be #1 honestly. This poll is right in the middle of it's popularity so that definitely did factor in some I would say. I think it's a show though that a few years after it's "prime" wouldn't be rated quite as high. It's a very catchy show in terms of current trends. Once they are not quite as current...I think some of the shine will wear off. Steven Universe at #1 is once again not a surprise. It's loaded with anime shout outs and has very likeable and relatable characters. It can drawn in the same crowds who like R&M but also get those that would find R&M too abrasive.

The house in "Bake Neko," the three-episode arc of Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales that spawned Mononoke, also houses a vengeful spirit. Like all the "medicine-seller" stories, the hauntings result from the evil deeds of humans.

Yeah, "The Blood-Stained Labyrinth" story arc is one of the very few anime works that I feel actually is effective as a horror story. I agree that it's the high point of the series and the one part of it that I occasionally rewatch.

Really, though, just about any setting in GH could have qualified for this list.

belvadeer, That's a bit of a rude way to ask "why are these your favorite shows?" But it does deserve an answer. I don't know how much you've seen of either show. Rick and Morty is a smart, silly, hilarious take on sci fi tropes. When I say "smart", I don't mean all of it's jokes are smart--it has a fair bit of lowest common denominator humor. But it mines decades of fantastical scifi premises for humor, which delights old school and current scifi fans alike, and does interesting things with its characters, who tend to be nihilistic. It is abrasive and can get very dark.

In terms of tone, Steven Universe is Rick and Morty's opposite, and not just because it's target audience is children. Creator Rebecca Sugar has said that she wanted a cool way to explore ideas about relationships, empathy, communication and mindfulness. The podcast 1A called it America's Most Empathetic Cartoon when they interviewed Sugar a month ago--it's positive and upbeat, has some great scifi world building, wonderful characters, and a plot that keeps getting better as it goes along (IMHO). It's also known for some great musical numbers and episodes.

I'm not surprised either show is popular amongst anime fans.

So, the second list in two days where a Pokemon:Classic reference gets #1 for the sake of Ironic Humor?

...We GET it. Rolling Eyes
Don't worry, you're not alone, I'm watching the old '99 "Pokemon: Indigo League" (as it's now called) reruns on Netflix US at the moment, too.
I'd forgotten what lovable goofballs both Ash and Team Rocket could be.

Not really, there was nothing rude implied in my post. It was just idle curiosity.

^^Gotta say there was little-no rudeness and a legitimate question. There are plenty of ANN denizens who would say "WTF your problem? R&M and SU is Sh*t, you must be an idiot, etc." That's rude. Of course the answer is like Key said, they are near the peak in popularity in a medium where that lasts about 1-2 years. Maybe more of a miracle is Gumball still being on the list despite peaking about 4-5 years ago. I wasn't really surprised, just slightly disappointed how low it was given it's quality and enduring relevence.
