Psst, hey, Strange Journey Redux is just a 3DS port, not for Switch. As much as Nintendo needs to ditch the system already and start getting many more DS/3DS ports on the Switch, they're not quite there yet.

Hey hey hey, it's Todd! How've you been man? Good to hear from you and see your classic game article goofiness back for the moment.
Neo Geo Mini: It's an adorably effective mini arcade machine. I think I want one.
Crystal Crisis: Astro Boy's inclusion in anything is always relevant!
Unexpected Crossovers: I'm surprised you didn't include the most unexpected one of all, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, the most unlikely crossover in history and one people thought was a terrible prank at first. Bottom line though, I love crossovers more than any other genre at this point, as long as they're done in an engaging and fun way.
*Chaos Wars: If only a more professional studio had dubbed the game, Chaos Wars would be remembered more for its actual gameplay and character roster. Some gamers really are singleminded though if they eschew everything else in favor of being the umpteenth person to say "The voice acting is legendarily awful that it's hilarious!" like pointing out it makes you so trendy. This game did mark the last appearance of Shadow Hearts characters and the series in general, which is one unique aspect to it.
*Cross Edge: The gameplay is rather complex if you don't attempt to grasp the battle system, but once you do, it's not a bad game overall; it's challenging if anything, though the lack of detailed tutorials is certainly a strike against it. The real fun comes from putting together your various dream teams, however not every team you think of may work out since you have to consider if their moves combine at all. It certainly was a unique crossover for its time, and I can only assume the Darkstalkers cast was put in because they use magic (except Felicia and Jedah), and the game makes use of magic for some of the combos.
*Honorable Mentions: Besides Mario + Rabbids, I would also like to include Trinity Universe on the list. It's definitely a much smaller scale crossover since it only uses a few characters from Disgaea and Atelier Viorate, but it's still a quirky fun game. The hours and hours of dungeon running and item collecting might be a turnoff for some though.
A Project X Zone 3 is what a lot of us crossover enthusiasts are hoping for down the line. One reason is because they want to see Bayonetta and Dante as a pair unit. Another big reason is a possible overhaul to the combat system.
Strange Journey Redux: The truly lamentable thing about this rerelease is that there's no English dub for it. I'm still going to get it of course, but I'm a bit miffed at it being Japanese audio only.

The 2D Bloodstained game is being released on pretty much every recent gaming platform bar Wii U, not just 3DS and Switch.

Quote: | The official game selection hasn't surfaced yet, but a list leaked a while ago. It's disappointing in ways small and large. While it nabs 40 games from the Neo Geo library, it's lacking great sports games like 2020 Super Baseball and Neo Turf Masters. |
The lacuna in the unofficial list between King of Fighters '95 and King of Fighters '97 was a mild cause for disheartenment, I cannot deny.
Nothing for which the inclusion of the original Real Bout Fatal Fury cannot compensate though!

The Chaos Wars mention is a painful reminder of Shadow Hearts and that it'll most likely never, ever return.
I mainly play fighting/action games so I don't have much issues with the games on there, with the exception of Art of Fighting (like someone else said in the previous TWIG thread, Art Fighting 3 would be a better pick) and Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 not being there. Sengoku 3, both Shock Troopers, Kizuna Encounter etc. is pretty sick.

Same here.
Listening to the video of Chaos War I just realised the bgm is The Endia & the Knight... I'd forgotten Sound Horizon had done the main theme for the Bad Voice Acting game... Now I can't focus on the voices, I'm too busy singing along..

The last thing the Switch needs is more ports of old games especially ones that were released on the DS systems.

I sure hope that wasn't the one with the overhead map and the water level with the insta death seaweed cause that was an awful game.

I just want another Another Century's Episode title. I haven't seen a new installment since the PSP was going strong in Japan.

The Switch needs more games in general from anywhere it can get them. A lot more of a need than the 3DS has in 2018. The ability to play Nintendo handheld games on a TV has been sorely missed during the Dual Screen era.

Cross Edge actually has a pretty fun battle system, but the requirements for its true ending (which about a third of the game is locked behind) are so absurdly onerous that they more than cancel out all the game's positives. You basically have to walk back over the entire map so far combing for events every time literally anything happens, because if you miss one, you're locked out.

Classic Idea Factory true end requirements.
