Is Natalie Rial a full time VA or does she just do other things? Because I've only seen her in a hand full of small roles over the last few years

I was thinking the same thing. Not good, not bad. Just meh. Part of me wonders why they bothered with cast announcements since it was gonna be all reprisals, but it's fine.

The only major new casting choice throughout the series is Lefiya (and later on Filvis and Uranos for limited runs), so not much is new. Kelley Peters seems okay so far a Lefiya, but I want to hear more before passing judgment.

I still plan to buy the BD release and rewatch with the English dub, but this trailer left me more doubts about Kelley Peters as Lefiya. Peters was cast as Lefiya since season one, but she spoke like one line. I hope things work out because Lefiya is the de facto main protagonist in Sword Oratoria.

What I can say about Monica's sister is this: even if Natalie is a full-time VA, it could take her years of auditioning before landing a major character (a main supporting character or even 1 of the leads). Prior to getting the lead in "MMO Junkie", Terri Doty hardly had any lead roles.

It’s hard to judge a dub by just a short clip, so I will reserve judgement until I watch the whole series. However, the dub for the first series was quite good, so I’m not that worried.

...Natalie's already landed a major character in this show because she's Tione. So that's already false.

After watching full episodes of the dub I can certainly say for sure that I really couldnt have expected anything else from a Sentai dub but damn Kelley Peters as Lefiya sounded really off IMO. Lefiya is supposed to be 15 with a soft voice befitting her age but here she sounds like she's 20. Plus she speaks faster than Juri Kimura and kept her accent too. The more experienced VAs like Chris Ayres, Shannon Emerick and Christina Kelly did a solid job though. Natalie is good too she's certainly Monica's sister but I think she'll gain more experience with Funi since they release more dubbed shows than Sentai she'll have more chances to land roles

Sounds like the same problem that plagued the Prisma Illya dub.

While I would like to hear Natalie in some Funi dubs (Adam Gibbs has started to thrive there, as well as Margaret McDonald and Katelyn Barr) I fear that people will only say she's landing the roles she has because she's Monica's sister. I mean there's nothing stopping people from saying it now, but since Monica is tied much more to Funi these days then Sentai it's a little bit harder to make stick.

I cant really deny that possibility but I would certainly like to see Natalie in more roles. I can see/hear that she has potential. I have little doubt that Monica herself is training her. All she really lacks is experience since she's still new.

I am FB friends with David Wald. On 3/1, I asked him on his Wall
Quote: | There's a person that pretty much started the trend of former ADV and current Sentai Filmworks VA going to the DFW area to work on a Funi title: Vic Mignogna ("Vic Mignogna Effect" is what I call it) as he was the first to do that when he got the role of Broly. We get the occasional vice versa (a Funi VA going to Houston to work on a Sentai Filmworks title). As such, do you see that as a reason why some Sentai Filmworks VA might choose to move to the DFW area? I am merely assuming here, but I could see some applying this quote, "Considering that the former company is a lot smaller and more selective on their Eng. dubs dubs, I have starting to work on Funi projects. I might even move to the DFW area in a few months".
Considering that the former company is a lot smaller and more selective on their Eng. dubs, might that have been factor why you moved from Houston to the Dallas-Fort Worth area back in December? |
He told me
Quote: | My reason for moving was because Hurricane Harvey pretty much wiped me out and it was easier to find decent, inexpensive accommodations in Dallas. I can’t speak for others, but I surmise that, rather than being a contest of volume between those two specific studios, Dallas has a draw because there’s more industry here related to our work. There are multiple anime and games studios here. There’s at least as much commercial and industrial VO and a comparable theatrical presence. It’s not about Sentai vs Funi at all. There’s far more to consider. I love both studios and hope to spend as much time as humanly possible at both of them. |
So, it is possible that we will see Natalie in a Funi dub. Since Sentai Filmworks releases a lot of sub-only titles, the fact that Funi has such a higher dub output might be a factor why some some Sentai Filmworks VA are appearing in Funi dubs more frequently. By this, I mean the Houston-based ones. Monica still does SF dubs on occasion but she lives in the Dallas area now, thus she is frequently in Funi dubs.

that will depend on whether or not there is a season two for the series in the first place! she definitely wont have a part for the original danmachi series until like when the anime series eventually reaches parts of chapter 10,11 and 12 of the light novels!
which is the reason why i have stated on previous posts on the comparison between her and kuroko shirai (other than their similar over the top disdain for the MCs of the original series and obsession of their main female interests which made them annoying as hell!)
they have little to no relevance in their original series, but in the spinoff series like sword oratoria and railgun, their de facto characters!
which is why the episode reviewer's article for the final ep wont come to pass cause if there is a season two of sword oratoria, while there will indeed be more on aiz, there is going to be a lot of lefiya and her annoying man hating lesbian like (specifically bell hating) personality all over the place!

If the anime had reached the part where Bell reaches the 18th floor then we couldve seen that Bell hating side of Lefiya reach a whole new level.
I have a lot of doubt about this getting a season 2 if the sales are anything to go by. BD 3 apparently sold 1241 copies while BD 2 sold even less. No proper source for that cos I only saw it on a forum post. However those numbers arent really hard to imagine being real
