So let's see, in 2016 the combined physical and digital sales of the manga industry in Japan amounted to 445.4 billion yen. link And in six months time they claim to have lost almost as much to piracy? Suuure... |

I'd love to know how many completed survey forms they've received since announcing this initiative. Curious too how many people will eventually buy the series they're requesting if the requested series do indeed get translated into published books. |

well its the reason why anime companies are doing that as we speak. and the worst part, this is already being done in the manga department. specifically in the ero department thanks to DLsite for allowing westerns to purchase their ero manga products online or to read them on their mobile app. even DMM have gone into the mix when their ero department decided to introduce R18.com where US fans can either buy or rent their ero products or some anime and manga for a monthly sub. i mean seriously! those Japanese politicians aren't fooling anyone! this is just a crappy excuse to further exercise even more restrictions towards the anime & manga industry and it all started when they made mr anti otaku shinzo abe as the PM! |

According to the linked Mainichi article, the proposed measure is likely unconstitutional.
(Article as linked in the article is available in English directly from the Mainichi website: Gov't set to request internet providers block access to pirated manga sites - April 6, 2018 (Mainichi Japan)) Legality has rarely deterred either content pirates or the overreaching Japanese Government. Internet piracy taking major bite out of Japan’s famed manga culture - By Shusuke Murai Staff writer for the Japan Times (April 10, 2018)
Below is a direct link to their survey form, also accessible via the links posted above. Direct Link. Seven Seas Entertainment has been conducting similar surveys for a while now -with slight variations- and has the following text on their website for similar purposes: Direct link: April 2018 Survey is Live! Straw poll for straw men. How many people complaining here about the state of affairs abroad in this very thread have submitted either form of feedback to these overseas companies? |
