At least this one doesn't have any slave tags on Novel Updates or the original site. It started in 2013, fitting the usual pattern these days of ~5 years from webnovel debut to anime. So, slime this year, giant spider in 2020? Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the time interval started growing, given how far in advance all the studios are booked. (See my comment on the announcement for Make My Abilities Average.) |

Gentlemen, shall we make a bet on how far the story will be adapted? (Anticipating just in case it actually does get Death March-level adaptation.)
Anyway, seeing how there hasn't been further updates, in regards to production value and adaptation quality, I'm suspecting they're aiming to make Shield Hero as the next Re:Zero. I can't imagine something getting Re:Zero-level treatment soon. (Damn. Now I'm making power levels of isekai series adaptation.) |

Isekais... never really liked this genre being most of them are almost the same except some rare cases.

Seriously? The other 3 heroes are borderline retarded,spoiler[thinking they can't die, insisting it's a game etc], and the "bad guys" are like those child-cartoon Masterminds that come after you over and over again and never getting punished. "Trash" and "Bitch"... With 12 episodes, they probably can't reach the turtle arc and won't be able to have a satisfying ending. Huge fan though, personally I love the novels enough to buy'em in physical and digital editions. But it's not the kind of story to reach the AOTY. But I guess every anime is a contender. |

Not surprised in the slightest; it's an amusing concept. Straight power fantasy, though, so unless the story gets dramatically better after the first novel I can't see the series coming anywhere close to AOTY-level consideration.

Great news, the story for this is really good and this was the original isekai that added the twist of getting reincarnated as something that wasn't human.

Sweet! I've been quite enjoying the first 2 vols of the manga that have come out!
I'll say that, in isekai terms, I'm still more stoked about Shield Hero, maybe I just like my isekai more pessimistic or something, I dunno. But I'm game for this one too! Of course, my "most anticipated" anime of the year is still going to be Banana Fish |
