Pretty obvious, after the success of season 2 they wouldn't go back to 12/13 episodes, it would be a disapointment and the manga has more than enough material to even more episodes.
Season 3 will be even better than than 2

Another 25 episode season. Awesome. As a BD watcher the wait will be worth it.

That didn't stop "Attack on Titan" and "Blue Exorcist."

Though when you consider that Blue Exorcist was 10 episodes of filler, meaning only 15 episodes of canon, perhaps the drop in episode count was justified there.

Aw, I actually hoped for single-cour. This arc would be so good as a single standalone season.

I don't think so it ends on a very down note if you ended the season at the end of the Mountain Training arc. Ending a season on such a down note and having to wait 6 to 7 months to see how it ends. With it being a full 25 episodes it concludes what is happening and ends on a better narrative ending for the season.

The Japanese tv channel MHA is airing on is know to have mostly shows with more then 1 cour. So when MHA switched to air on it, having 25 episodes seasons was way more sure.

No, I mean the whole arc. The mountain training arc is a sub-arc, and there's no way it fills up an entire 12 episodes of its own.
Finish the rest of the arc, however, and I think it would fit neatly into a 12-13 episode season, which would make that whole season stand out by itself no matter how many followup seasons are made in the future.

Even though I know it's not what's going on, I can't look at that key visual without thinking that Deku is just mashing his palm into Shigaraki's face.

I'm not 100% sure if this will be in it but this season's second half is what's gonna get me more excited to see. I can't wait to see All Might's United States of Smash be animated. And then when he points to Deku and says "You're next". The chills...

At the very most, the Deku vs Kaccha rematch and possible set-up for the Hero Licensing Exam Arc.
