He is also known for the legendary kusoge (crappy game) Takeshi no Chōsenjō for the Famicom, probably the most "so bad it's... still bad, but amusing to show to people how bad it is" game ever.

I got the impression his film, Dolls (2002), was a romantic film but was very dark and depressing. Pretty much about unhappy lovers and the theme of death. If his planned anime film is anything like that, well ...I'd prefer something a bit more upbeat.

Well the Yakuza series is right up his alley in terms of theme and shit so it only makes sense they tried and got him for a role in 6. |

Interestingly his Yakuza movies have the same soundtrack composer as Miyazaki's.
