I don't care how bad it is, if they respect the spirit and story of the manga, I'm gonna love it

This might be the first ever good adaptation of a manga by a Western filmmaker. Very Happy

Edge of Tomorrow (or whatever the hell they call it these days) was fantastic.

It looks fine! The benefit of such a brief teaser is that there is nothing to fault in what we have just seen. It'd be a hefty gamble to preserve any hope in this production, though I cannot say they have fallen at the first hurdle.

Edit: No, they've fallen at it. Egad, those eyes!

Technically that was a Japanese sci-fi novel adaptation. Since the the movie was already filmed and in post-production by the time the All You Need is Kill manga came out.

The first full trailer can be found here. It's a lot more revealing.

Not sure what to make of the weird effect they've done with Alita's head, like they've given her oversized eyes. Otherwise it looks pretty sharp and is definitely my most-anticipated movie for next year.

I'm just shaking my head in disbelief at those eyes. I mean, I have no idea how that idea made it all the way to the finished film. At some point, you would think, someone would have said, "Ya know, this seems REALLY distracting and no one is going to be able take anything else going on seriously."

CG Alita is very unsettling. I first thought it was a photo realistic animated adaption.

Hollywood has pulled it off--a nigh-perfect adaptation of the art style of those American-made "How to Draw Manga" books from the '90s.

Yay...?
