I cannot recommend Gundam Unicorn enough, though you're better off watching after being well versed in Universal Century lore. A lot of people seemed confused while watching it on Toonami and I realized I was too entrenched in UC knowledge to see it from the outside. I bought each Blu-Ray volume individually (save for the couple I was gifted), and it was uber expensive, so I'm torn about whether I actually want this to be affordable or not.
Gundam 00 was... decent, for the most part. The first season took longer than it should have to kick in and the second season crammed in too much all at once, but overall, a watchable show with some good Gundam designs and some decent combat and characters. It's certainly better than AGE or Wing, but that's a low bar.
Gundam AGE, on the other hand, well... I stopped watching about twenty episode in because I found it was too predictable and I didn't care much about the characters. The concept of the evolving AGE system and the different generations of main protagonists were interesting, but they didn't really do enough with the rest of the elements in the show.

Gundam 00 honestly is the best of the three. It managed to bring something new to the table for Gundam for it's first season and movie finale while the second season is Zeta Gundam's plot done infinitely better. Unicorn is decent for the pretty visuals and Sawano soundtrack but is ultimately just fan service for UC fans that doesn't really add up to much in the end. And AGE is simply the worst entry in the franchise ever for reasons that could fill an entire 10 page essay with.

The only flaw here is that AGE has an Animax dub.

Well, time to double-dip on Gundam 00! I have the original Bandai DVDs and a BD version will be a welcome addition. Will need to pick up Gundam UC too. I loved the series but the original releases were a bit too pricey for the BD.

Yeah, I was pretty darn confused when I saw it on Toonami since I had no prior UC knowledge, and I still don't. I ended up dropping it like 6 episodes in.

What's at least one reason why AGE is simply the worst entry in the franchise?

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I wonder if the dub is at least watchable.

Rapidly; the scenario is previsible and really boring, characters are deeply forgettable. The whole thing suffer also from poor pacing and bad execution. It had a lot of potential and all, but it failed on almost every aspect.
It's basically 3 different story crammed into a whole show, with each part having their whole set of flaws.
I watched it a long time ago, and it wasn't because I enjoyed it; it was a real slug watching all of it. I just wanted to get into gundam. (And I was young and stupid)

The only reason they probably included the dub was because that shows geared more towards children and most of them wouldn't want to read subtitles even if they could. You're probably not going to find many 7 to 10 year olds on the internet talking about how bad so and so's portrayal of such and such character is. Of course it probably won't be the age group that that show is made for that's buying it over here anyway.

Kio's arc trying to make the villians sympathetic despite the two previous arcs explicately showing the opposite? Kio being gullable in general? Hell, the big one being the fact there didn't need to be a war considering they could've simply moved before anything bad happened thus preventing any need for war in the first place?
Flit is one of my favorite Gundam protags and his arc gets screwed by Kio's, despite the potential being there for an interesting dynamic.

The sexism for one. Every female in AGE exist solely to be a baby-maker or to be killed off to give Asuno boys angst. The only other Gundam that is also this bad on that front is Victory Gundam and that has the excuse of Tomino, the director being deeply depressed at the time and he regrets making it now. AGE has no excuse. Also for what Cetais and Lynx Amali say.

Sounds like the show is smelly pile of garbage. I won't bother wasting a single minute with it, then.

Yeah, kids don't care about "reading" a show. They want to actually watch it. And honestly, I doubt any kids are gonna bother asking their parents to buy them the DVD/BD sets since the Gundam franchise is no where near mainstream in North America. It's not something you can just find very easily in the toys section at Target or Toys R Us.

Well, I'm glad Gundam 00 is finally getting a Blu-ray release in North America. Now if they can give us some 10th Anniversary extras or get it on Toonami, I'm game.
I know Gundam Age has a notorious reputation, but it getting a released makes me glad to know that it hasn't been locked away in a vault and forgotten about (I still want those Master Grade Age-3 & FX kits).
With that, what's left as far as unreleased Gundam stuff in the west?

AGE got a bad rep due to Level 5 NOT BEING FAMILIAR WITH GUNDAM to begin with. And Hino is a BAD WRITER.

Age would have been forgettable if it wasn't for the hot mess that was Age 3. First arc was bland through and through. 2nd Arc was below average up til them ditching the school setting and then it got pretty good. 3rd arc just takes a hot dump on everything and walks out the door undoing everything that was done before it.
