Whatever happened to Sugar Sugar Rune being licensed in English again? I checked Udon Entertainment's website and the only thing I found was a 2016 release date.

She's an Orian, a type of high-class prostitute. (Geisha were strictly entertainers; they were based in the pleasure districts but legally barred from engaging in prostitution.) She's the main character from Sakuran.

Interesting...Perhaps the Oiran wearing their bows was their way of distinguishing themselves from the Geisha...

The Oiran precede the Geisha, or at least the predecesor of the Oiran which are the Tayu does. The Geisha were not really allowed yo sell sex in the pleasure districts as it would be unfair competion the the people that were actually registered as prostitutes.
