I think it's possible this never made it into final production. I've never heard of it, and the "behind-the-scenes" stuff looks a lot like preliminary takes, the kind you make for an early trailer to drum up additional financing.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that this one stranded in the early stages of shooting. - abunai |

Masamune Shirow has never been credited to any live-action movie of Appleseed. The link you provided was the promotional video made for the 1988 OVA (note the "Special Prologue" subtitle), according to Wikipedia Japan.
If it's true then I wonder why they spend so much efforts on a commercial of that OVA... more resources should have been diverted to the OVA itself rather than PR stuff. GAINAX stupidity, I presume? |
