I am looking for some old school Japanese horror animes (pre-1995)
Any suggestions? There is one I can remember about a killer cat in space but I don't remember the name if anyone can help me out? I remember Blood Reign but I don't think it was horror so much as just being bloody. |

There's the original Vampire Hunter D from 1985. It's absolutely bloody awful but I suppose it counts as horror.
I certainly found watching it to be a horrific experience... |

Oh...So there isn't mention of a horror recommendation thread in the "Anime Hunting/Recommendations" thread eh?
As for the question on hand, Vampire Princess Miyu is the only "old" horror anime I can think of off the top of my head. I think I first came across mention of that show on an Animeigo laser disk... Funny thing is that I've yet to watch the actual show. Neat trailer though. |

Haven't watched too much horror anime, but my opinion is don't bother with Vampire Princess Miyu. Unless being alternately confused and bored sensless horrifies you.
