Sound! Domination! Oh, SnK. What a decline. Come on people! Buy Maidragon and Acca.

I hope this teaches production committees a lesson. They shouldn't wait 4 years to air a sequel to one of the most succesful anime series of all time. This and DRRR! are perfect examples of that.
I did enjoy S2 of SnK more though. It's too bad its sales are incredibly lackluster compared to the first season, but at least it's not 2K per volume bad. |

Ao no Exorcist as well. The first season sold so well in 2011. (From what I saw.) And they gave it a second season when? This year back in January. That's why it sold so poorly. They wait too long, and then wonder why it sold so poorly compared to the first season. |

First of all, You realize AoT season 2 is being sold in Blu-Ray Boxes (6 eps per box) this time instead of volume (2 eps and 6500 yen a volume for season one vol 1) ? 20000+yen a volume is PRETTY expensive, unless you are a die-hard fan, most people would just resort to Manga. (UBW's fate would be a outlier example) This is more towards the business decision rather than the show's quality. Which also means there is a chance for an increase (which rarely happens unless you are an idol show OR has some really neat bonuses) of BD sales for 2018's season 3, since for Die-hard fans, Levi's more frequent involvements might help a lot. SEcond, No, this will NOT teach a lesson to other production committees, while more BD sales would definitely help, but as long as the Manga is printing money, as we see a statistically significant boost to the Manga sales due to the second season, then the biggest investor in the Committee, Kodansha, WILL agree to produce more. Production IG and Wit's share in the committee is very small, which is why Kabaneri an Magic Bride is on their top priority, No, of course they would love to produce more Titans, but if Kodansha and author sticks to their no-filler policy so strictly, what can you do? YES, the 4-year wait is indeed TOO LONG (although for me and lots of people, it's definitely worth the wait AND hype), but if all the wait will be paid off in a 2-cour season in 2018 that will answer MOST of its questions and will have one of the most satisfying emotional payoff, I do believe it will be worth it |

Kodansha isn't the biggest investor. Pony Canyon is at the top. Pony Canyon Kodansha Production IG Dentsu Pony Canyon Enterprises MBS Boost in manga sales only benefit the manga publishers.
Was there even any hype for it? I don't recall anything to be honest. |

Manga sales may only *directly* benefit manga publishers, but it's one of the biggest factors behind which manga continue to get anime adaptations.

Lol I think we all know SnK is going to get a full adaptation regardless of what happens after season 1's performance.

Apparently, when S1 ended it had caught up with the manga. The delay in more AoT anime had to do with having to wait until there was enough material to adapt. I don't know if this is true or not, but it sounds plausible. In any case, that's a hell of a sales drop off even if you factor in we are comparing a 6-eppie box set to a single volume. |

Attack on Titan S2 is a big bomb. I was expecting a drop, but not one this huge. I feel bad for the fans of the anime. The show's producers should be ashamed of themselves for their ridiculous 4 years delay.
I would not be laughing and assuming a full adaptation. A 87% drop in sales from one season to another is a huge deal.
Season 2 could have aired in 2015 if the producers had gotten their act together. But I would still have been cool with a 3 years wait. |

I'm sad about Re-Creators, it has some very interesting concepts and occassionally very good episodes (I haven't been enjoying it quite as much lately because Magane is a very annoying characters and drags the pacing down), I thought it was going to sell at least in the 5K realm. On the other hand, I dropped Attack on Titan S2 in the fourth episode after realizing I didn't care about the characters anymore and finding it worse than the first season but I'm still surprised at the huge drop.

Expected, but people are over-reacting over the AoT drop like crazy. 4 years ago, internet streaming was a tiny fraction of the revenue stream it is today, especially in Japan. Anime viewing has changed world-wide dramatically. It's a significant drop either way, but fewer people are buying BDs/DVDs for their own sake anymore. They buy for event tickets and promotional benefits if they buy them at all. Otherwise only a few collectors bother and everyone else streams(legally). 6k is a little lower than even I was expecting, but I can't be too worried seeing as they still undoubtedly made money on this season and we are guaranteed a third season sometime next year.
