There is a preview shot for both and they look promising. I'm going to root for both of them, but I know they most likely will die horrible deaths. If the author of Straighten Up! manages to get a successful soccer/football series in Weekly Jump, that's going to be a super achievement since all the recent attempts at this sport from this magazine have failed horribly, I'm impressed by his courage.
The other series has some really nice art and looks cute.

You're kinda putting words in their mouth. All they said was that they weren't interested in a sports manga. You don't have to immediately go on the attack like that.

Well maybe he should've expressed his opinion in a better way, instead of using "meh",

Well best of luck to the new series. I don't much care for soccer in general, but it might be a safer bet than ballroom dancing to last a good while.

It's the main image for this post because one of the new series is by the mangaka of that series.

It's the main image for this post because one of the new series is by the mangaka of that series. |
In that case, isn't it safe to assume that the manga ended on the mangaka's terms? Samon the Summoner is a gag manga, and it lasted ten volumes, so it isn't that far-fetched.

Some things that need to be clarified: Samon is from a different creator than Straighten Up! Takuma Yokota wrote Straighten Up! and is also the mangaka of Shudan. Shun Numa is the creator of Samon the Summoner. Also Straighten Up ended months ago.

There's also how soccer is one of the most overused sports in sports manga. Lots of competition, and lots of legacy. Big shoes to fill. I'm surprised he chose it over a less-covered sport.

If I recall correctly, Straighten Up! ended where the author had intended to. It was never meant "to last a good while," actually, and did pretty well in the rankings the entire time.

Ten volumes? Has it really been that long since Samon debuted?
