While this is obviously excellent news, what did Geneon have to do with Sailor Moon?

I've always thought that if any Geneon titles would be rescued, Hellsing and Black Lagoon would.
For other titles I'm interested in, I think Saiunkoku might have a chance if those first two volumes did well. Since there are still seven volumes to go, there is plenty of profit to be made. It sounds like When They Cry wasn't doing well and I don't expect we'll ever see the rest. Having three out of six volumes already out doesn't help... but they could re-release the first three volumes as a bundle or something to get new fans in and if it wasn't selling well and they think it was a marketing issue, re-releasing the first half of the series in a bundle or at reduced prices and marketing it better means they can still make money on the remaining three volumes and the second season. I think its a long shot, but its possible. Rozen Maiden fans are screwed. |

I can easily see Funi grabbing the Tenchi franchise. Though I don't know why he bothered to mention Sailor Moon. The licenses expired long ago because Toei wouldn't/couldn't renew them and Toei has had a deathgrip on them ever since. Though I suppose if anyone could negotiate with them, it would be Funi...

Unfortunately, that's quite likely -_-. The only decent hope would be that, since the final two discs were both solicited to be released in the not terribly distant future, sufficient work had been done on them that someone could pick them up, toss them in a DVD package, and throw them out the door with minimal effort/investment. Higurashi does have a second season (presumably as yet unlicensed), so it's possible someone could pick up the remnants of season 1 when grabbing season 2 (if anyone does indeed license it). The Shana OVA/movie thing that was planned to be released with a box for the 6 released volumes could potentially see a similar fate as a possible package deal with Shana season 2. While I'm glad that Hellsing and BL will most probably get picked up (like there was really any doubt), I really really want Saiunkoku, Shounen Onmyouji and Kyo Kara Maoh to get finished up. Rozen Maiden I like, and have 4/6 volumes, but I won't get too broken up if that doesn't get picked up. KKM is just frustrating, since it's a long series, and was almost done. And I was having a lot of fun with Onmyouji and Saiunkoku.

I was going to mention the Sailor Moon licenses had expired also, but Funi seems to have managed to find a way to work with Toei considering everyone else finds them difficult. Maybe Toei respects Funi's success with their product.
I really don't see Funi going for Saiunkoku, Shonen Onmyoji or KKM. I'm still hoping MediaBlasters would be interested if they could get them cheap. They might rescue the Saiyuki licenses unless ADV wants them. Funi didn't have success with Kodocha according to everyone else here & their overall product seems shonen. Even Tsubasa seems to have a fairly large guy following. Funi might go for Karin/Karen whatever the chibi vampire anime is & maybe Fate/Stay Night, although that also has a certain MediaBlasters feel to it |

Well, the only purpose of picking up FSN at this point would be for keeping it in print. The last volume just met the 11/06 cutoff, so that entire series was released, thankfully. |

As long as Hellsing and Black Lagoon keep the same dub cast then I wouldn't mind FUNi picking them up.

You got that right, Crawly. Toei seems to have a more trusting relationship with FUNimation than with any other R1 distributor. FUNimation managed to turn Dragon Ball into a financial marketing success, and if the same thing can happen with One Piece, then Toei may trust FUNimation enough to release Sailor Moon in the near future, especially the long sought after Sailor Stars season. As for Hellsing Ultimate and Black Lagoon, I strongly believe it would be in FUNimation's best interest to retain the previous dub studios. I can't possibly fathom the cast from Hellsing suddenly turning American from their former British selves.

There have been some posts from Ocean about the Black Lagoon dub getting finished, and the recent Eric Sherman interview indicated that work would finish up on Rozen Maiden and When they Cry, so that increases the chances of those series seeing a completed release.

Reguardless of how much time passes i still get this sick gaging feeling when it comes to funi due to their past evils.
I'd rather see TSRI or Bandai step up, ADV would be a better choice but they already passed, maybe a new company made of ex-geneon staff could also work. |

i hadnt seen the anime yet but i was hoping too along the way. So im hoping that they will pick up where geneon left off with it. In regard too the other anime mentioned, i also hope they work on them as well. Bl didn't look too bad and i was considering watching it as well.
