She is a decent actress that has been pigeon hold to "bitch with attitude" roles, regardless if this is a role for "paying the bills" or one that Rodriguezlooked out specifically for it won't be due to her part in the production that will make or break the film as a whole.

"With her films grossing over $5 billion (U.S.) collectively, a 2013 Entertainment Weekly article described Rodriguez as "arguably the most iconic actress in the action genre, as well as one of the most visible Latinas in Hollywood"."

And probably the most typecast actress of the century so far. I don't know if she just can't play any other type of character, or no one wants to try because she's so associated with one type of character.

When's Danny Trejo showing up? That guy's surgically attached to Robert Rodriguez like Johnny Depp is to Tim Burton.

Rodriguez is the definition of a character actor, a good one too. Her wife beater wearing action heroines never fail to entrain me and she delivered for the director before. I will also point out that she looks like Gelda too but that character is from the sequel manga. Hm.
This film is coming together nicely. It and Death Note could break the manga to US adaption curse (Edge of Tomorrow is based on a LN).

I take it you are not a fan. Work is work, and I like her work.

I take it that Gelda is a tough-talking SOB who backs it up and doesn't take any crap from anyone?

Yeah, pretty much. I mean, if she wasn't so typecast, I would have made a better comment, but she's completely unwilling to get out of her comfort zone ever since Fast and Furious. We know she can act thanks to Girlfight, so show it to us!

Damn, I am so pumped. Very surprised to see characters from Last Order being cast for this movie. But I should have figured Hollywood screenwriters couldn't resist going into Alita's backstory. Hopefully they also realized that it is actually the many villains' backstories that really makes Battle Angel Alita unique and relatable as a manga.

Well, I do like Rodriquez and I always did see her as the tomboyish type character.

I'm glad they're including characters from the manga that weren't in the anime.

You lost me at "Robert Rodriguez" I do not see his style working for this at all. I hope I'm proven wrong but I'm anticipating a low budget DBZ Evolution level train wreck.
