I always like checking out the show promos on Animax Asia's YouTube channel. It's like being in a parallel world where anime is on normal TV, and is promoted as such.

IMO if they don't use this opportunity to promote the Animax UK streaming service to Animax World (except Japan and China) and add tons of oldie but goodie series to the service, otherwise they are wasting a golden opportunity.

In the Philippines a lot of anime is still shown on broadcast TV. Back in the nineties my cable provider had various Asian channels with some anime. A lot of them seemed to be unauthorized rebroadcasts of domestic feeds (no longer carried today). Saw some of Patlabor in Thai and Rayearth in Bahasa Indonesia. Stopped getting Animax when we switched our cable plan to one with HD channels. The SD channels look terrible on HDTVs. It'd be nice if there were an HD feed for Animax; if there is one my cable provider doesn't carry it. |

I wonder what this will mean for the long running Anipara Ongakukan show on Kids Station, currently hosted by Hironobu Kageyama and Masaaki Endoh of JAM Project, Gero, Kaori Oda and Aktsuko of Angela and featuring Imajo of Psychic Lover and Lantis-based musicians providing backing.
Occasionally clips of terrific collaborations from that show end up on Youtube. |
