Selling pretty well for 2 weeks, regardless. They don't need people who sound like they don't even like video games.

Nintendo needs anyone they can get after the Wii/ Wii U failures. if people dont buy this thing it wont get third party support which is basically a death sentence.

hey the wii u
was a failure true but the wiki was the most successful of the seventh generation. Get your facts right.

Honestly, Splatoon was well worth buying a Wii-U console.

Wii U also had high pre-oders. Every console sells well at launch, the determining factor will be how well it does in the coming months.

The Wii was the exact opposite of a failure, it's the third-highest selling console of all time (after Playstation 2 and then 1).

Nobody buys Nintendo consoles for third-party games. Third party games always sell poorly, indicating they are not worth it for both third parties and Nintendo. The handheld market is different and the 3DS had plenty of third party games. It'll be interesting to see if those adopt to the Switch or not in the future when the 3DS fades out. The real kicker is going to be if the next Pokemon game is going to be on the Switch or not.

The Wii U actually had the best selling console games of the generation in Japan: Splatoon and Mario Kart. The PS4 has yet to sell a game over 1 million in Japan. I'm interested to see how much Splatoon 2 carries the Switch there.

That's the reason they're struggling. The system was too weak compared to the competition, 3rd parties didn't want to develop their games for the console because of the time and effort it takes to downgrade.

It won't sell well, not with nothing but ports at launch for Japan. If it doesn't get any good third party games outside of DQXI in Japan soon, it will die a quick death.

Um, sorry to burst your bubble, but the Wii is the 5th best selling console of all time. How could you ever refer to it as a failure?

Japan doesn't matter one bit in the console market. In terms of 2016 software sales, just over 5% of total home console software sales (that's PS4, PS3, Wii U, Wii, XB1, and XB360) came from Japan. That makes Japan a smaller home console market than the United Kingdom in terms of software sales.

i.e. water is wet. Of course opinions are split because they always are with a new console prior to launch. But of course we've all seen this song and dance: a vocal population screams, Nintendo just does whatever it wants and profits regardless, rinse repeat.

Despite these mixed results, I certainly hope the Switch does well.
