That's funny, my two favorite shows this season ended up in 1st place and last place . I don't care what people say about Trickster, but I love it and all of its flaws. Also super excited for Haikyu!! It's an amazing anime that desperately needs an English dub and tons of merch.
My other favorite shows did well too (Poco's Udon World and Bungo Stray Dogs) It was a pretty great season! Not looking forward to any anime this next season, so I guess I'll catch up on my long list of shows I want to watch.

Well, the Mega Poll was binary, while the ratings use here are decimal, so of course the results can be different. Besides, people are subjected to recency bias in the Mega Poll.

Indeed, I would be curious to see a merged version of the four 2016 seasons ratings to see how it compares to the Mega Poll.

It seems odd to criticize a poll for recency bias by comparing it to rankings of just recently airing shows. While recency did affect some shows certainly, the relatively high placement of a number of winter shows cuts against that. That being said a combined yearly episode ranking might be interesting to see though I don't know if it is possible.

Glad that Hibike didn't seem to drop even though a lot of the audience's favorite ship was pretty much abandoned.

It did drop a bit but I'm glad the damage was minimal

I'm surprised that Keijo almost cracked the top 10. I mean I like the show, but I still expect it to rank as high as it did.

Perhaps I understood incorrectly, but isn't precisely because a relatively high number of winter shows receiving high placement which demonstrates recency effect? For example, YoI placed as high as it did on the Mega Poll perhaps because it's recent and was thematically novel, but otherwise the characterizations in the show were quite abrupt. Perhaps it won't place as high if it premiered in the beginning of the year, when its shortcomings have been dissected and analyzed?

This past season with YoI was Fall... the winter season started a year ago now, it was the season with Konosuba, Erased, and Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju

^As above Fall was the most recent season while winter is the least. As I said, some shows are affected by recency but I think the effect is only marginal given that some of the least recent shows did well. And anyways given that this is the ranking of the most recent shows, saying the mega poll is the one affected more by recency is odd to say the least.

Right!?!? I'm right there with you!! It's an amazing anime and it did really well considering that it's the third season of the show.

I honestly can't remember the last anime that had me on the edge of my seat every week like Haikyuu did this season, so I'm happy to see it at the top!

I think YoI also benefited because of the format. The megapoll had you choose a handful of series and ignore the rest. That is going to play out better for shows targetting demographics that aren't as saturated because the votes aren't as split. The weekly rating system doesn't cap the amount of series you can input a score for.

As they said, it's all about taste. I can acknowledge Tricker's problems but still enjoy it. On the other hand, something like Working, I had to stop at ep 5 bc I couldn't even pay attention due to how boring I found it.
