I never understood the hate Sonny Strait gets as an ADR director. He's directed my favorite performances from Eric Vale and Alexis Tipton (Prison School), Chris Rager and Ian Sinclair (Rage of Bahamut Genesis), and the new Escaflowne dub is pretty much perfect imo (the only issue I have with it is the pronunciation of "Kanzaki"). |

I've to agree with you. Some people just say what other people's opinions are without having a own one. I think he does a pretty good work. Prison School is amazing imo lol. Im enjoying the Escaflowne dub right now. But well, Escaflowne isnt that hard to direct though, the blueprint has already been made by Bandai. |

I know it was never gonna happen since Funimation licensed it, but a part of me wanted Yuri Lowenthal to be in this.

Josh Grelle is one of my favorite voice actors, so I'm hyped to see him in this! Also, Micah is perfect for Yurio.
-looks at the clock- 8pm mountain time tomorrow, I know what I'm doing.! |

The Baccano! dub is pretty much perfect. Michiko and Hatchin's dub is pretty much perfect. Escaflowne's dub? Either of them? They're tolerable at best. Sonny Strait does not have a great record of ADR direction. Just look at all those terrible Lupin III dubs he directed. And starred in. Poorly. For both. I think the only solid production he's done is Rage of Bahamut. |

Sonny Strait directing this dub surprised me, too. And I can see why some people might have reservations about that. For example, I love the Prison School dub, but I know there are people out there that think it's terrible (they may have just watched the first episode and wrote it off, I don't know). But I'm gonna check the dub out, because the casing is solid, Sonny Strait has been improving as an ADR Director (at least, I think so), and Josh Grelle is especially excited about being a part of this show:

Prison School's dub was terrible from an acting and casting standpoint (if you want to ignore script issues). Anyone who says they liked it is probably the type of fan who's probably glad it (or any anime they're interested in) has a dub regardless of quality, or they're the type of fan with such limited imagination they can't desire better casting choices (*spoiler* despite popular belief the VA who gets the role isn't actually always best suited) and some fans never bother to read the manga or watch it subbed and sadly denied themselves a better experience. Dubs can be as good as subs and sometimes even better. This was not the case here and thus far Sonny has yet to create an actual good dub. "Fine" and "ok" should not be the standard he sets for himself to reach when majority of the dubs he has directed as the primary ADR Director such as Prison School and the old Lupin dubs have been far below average.
The Prison School dub could've been so much better but it was a failure on all levels. It's also no secret that Sonny Strait often casts fellow ADR directors in his dubs in order to cash in favors later on. Almost everyone at Funimation does it now and then, but he doesn't even try to be subtle. |

Aaaaaand that makes the what, 5th role both Micah and Koki Uchiyama share now? I'd be amazed if they never met each other at a con up until now. First Soul 'Eater' Evans, then Midnight, followed by Miyuki Sagara, then Makoto Sugimoto and now this. |

Ugh.. the whole cast was great until I read Victor was gonna be played by Jerry Jewel. I feel like Eric Vale would have been so much better IMO. Jerry just sounds like a monotone old man.

Was there really a need to include your thoughts of the fans, instead of the show. |

They announced the Orange cast and crew on their site as well. It also looks fairly solid.

Mind speaking for yourself bro? I only mainly watch dubs because I DONT like to read the subs. I want to enjoy the visual beauty of the anime I watch. Besides that to me it was a good dub, I laughed my ass off. The way you speak about people like me is disrespectfull to say the least. |
