Huh, sounds interesting. I never really hear people talk about this film (which is a shame), so this is a bit surprising. Could be interesting.

Given that this project is seemingly an adaptation of an adaptation, one wonders how it will compare with the other live-action Kerberos films. I have heard that they make for 'interesting' viewing, to put things politely.

Oh, people used to talk about it a lot more than a decade ago, but it was a 1998 film which made it to Region 1 release in 2002, and aside from the iconic image of the MC in his "work gear," it never had large, lasting popularity. That could be partly because of its lack of flamboyance (its art style tends to be darker and muted) and partly because it's a grim, pessimistic tale decidedly aimed at older viewers.
However, I think it could quite easily be adapted into live action and for a relatively low budget, as its usage of special effects would be minimal. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that an American version of it hasn't been done at some point yet.

We are aware of this but that is a direct quote from someone else so we're not going to change it. However, just to be clear I added information into the article on who directed it and Oshii's role in the film.

To be fair, it is very often considered an Oshii film by fandom. and if you are an Oshii fan, it's on your list because of his involvement. Calling it that isn't any more wrong than calling PMMM "Urobuchi's Madoka Magica".

This is interesting news. I don't know why I thought this film was done before. Maybe I'm thinking of something else. But this is excellent news nonetheless.
