Wait, really?

Second huge manga this year to end on anniversary. First Bleach on 15, now Kochikame on 40? Almost seems carefully planned.

Whoa... I've never read this Manga before, but I have heard of it, and how it's been ongoing for a very long time. The idea of a manga going on for forty years finally coming to an end must seem like a huge achievement for the author. Hats off to you.

Now, for manga like Berserk and Detective Conan going on for another twenty years really makes me nervous...

Time to start reading this series now, I could use a bit of humor.

Nothing but respect for an author that has dedicated 40 great years to their work.

So, in terms of long-running manga, it's down to Golgo and Jojo. I'm betting on the Golgo guy retiring first.

First Naruto, Bleach and Nisekoi - Now Kochikame...
Gintama & Toriko are also heading towards their conclusion with a fast pace.

Really seems like the end of an era.

Only One Piece remains as jumps new flagship.

I can barely believe it. I just assumed it would go on forever.

Better end than letting series with no conclusion because the author death. They are not immortal so it is not possible to run series like forever. See the Doraemon series. No ending except from fanmade.

Damn, I had just assumed that this would end only with the author's death (I'm assuming others had also assumed that too). I also can't imagine reading a 200 volume manga ever (yes, I've read probably thousands of volumes, but I can't imagine them all being the same series).

I'm guessing that Kankichi will still be playable in tons of future SJ games in the future though.

But the anime won't even be one cour, it'll just be 1 special episode.

Damn, 40 years! Even infinite manga's like Kochikame really do come to an end some day. All of these shounen titles have been ending left to right as of late, it's honestly kind of sad.

The end of an era...I don't suppose this could mean a licensing of, if not the manga because, OMG, then at least the anime + movies? Probably not. I can hope, though.

We're seeing a lot of long-running manga series coming to an end recently. Sad

I've also starting to hear "whispers" that HIro Mashima will very soon end the Fairy Tail series, too. The current story arc might be the very last one for this series. Mind you, Mashima-san on his Twitter feed has shown a few sketches of characters from what could be his next series, so the break between the end of Fairy Tail and the new series could be a relatively short one.
