Very Happy Does anyone know if there's any updates to this Anime ? I've watched both Season 1 and Enishi but is there anymore after those ? I wanna watch it all the way til' Aoi-chan and Kaoru get married and everything. I'm a deep fan of Ai Yori Aoshi and I wanna continue watching but I'm stumped after watching Enishi. Is there more ??

Not that I've ever heard of. Enishi was done before the manga finished, so there is more story there, but I think you'll need to read the manga to get it.

ai yori aoshi is done, those two series were finished awhile ago and there is no plans for anymore. You can read the manga if you want to, which I believe is only 17 volumes long and the last volume was recently released in english so you won't have to wait for years to finish like with most manga series.

Actually the English translation of volume 17 (the final one) is due out this Tuesday - and its cover art (as you can see here) does have Aoi in formal Japanese wedding apparel rather than the normal racy Aoi pose.

Hmmm. . .

I also suggest reading the manga, it's more expansive than the anime version and yeah I can't wait for the last volume next week. Cool

Crying or Very sad Aww... I dont wanna read the Manga. Reading it isnt the same as watching the Anime show. Why couldn't they do the whole Manga in a Anime show. BTW I'm in Love with Kaoru too so add me to the Love Triangle. Hehe. :3

Because the manga hadn't been finished yet when the second series was made?

And I would suggest reading the manga for all the nudity that's in it that didn't get carried over into the anime, but it sounds like that's probably not the kind of thing you'd be interested in. Wink

Because the Japanese have a rather stupid habit of making an anime before the original source material is finished. Eventually they run out and have to stop or make things up. I'd like to see more of it animated myself but I highly doubt it's going to happen since the manga has been complete for while in Japan and there hasn't been any word of a new series.

Let's also keep in mind that the original intent was only to make the first 24-episode series. Producers were caught off guard by the surprise popularity of the series, and Enishi was thus tacked on only in response to that.

I, too, would like to see the series finished out in animation, and now that the manga is complete maybe there's a chance that it will happen. I'm not going to hold my breath, however, because the content that hasn't been animated only has about 3-4 episodes' worth of actual plot, with the rest being the same kind of filler seen in Enishi.

Instead of a season they could just do an OVA or movie that deals with spoiler[Tina admitting her feelings for Kaoru and him dealing with his family and his brother. ]Avoid the fillers and just make a nice short and sweet OVA/movie to cap off the series.

edit--- Not to mention it's a Pioneer/Geneon title so I don't think it's likely it'll happen.

It's not that easy to say considering the events at the end of the first anime were specifically created (read as made up) to add a note of conclusiveness to the anime version since there was no ending to the manga at the time and thus don't happen in the manga. Well at least not in the 16 of 17 volumes I've read anyway so it ended up being a hybrid between a true ending and an open ended one. Plus the anime jumps arround and rearranges things from the manga as well. I'd say just start with volume 1 and work your way up 'til the end.

Then theres Enishi which is more of a jumble and adds more original material as well. Watching the anime version and reading the manga are slightly different experiences.

Enishi added very little original material; only its last episode was entirely different from the manga. The ending of the first series likewise didn't stray far from the manga.

The manga steps entirely beyond the anime beginning with the end of volume 10, where spoiler[Kaoru goes back home to confront his grandfather]. IIRC a chapter or two from volumes 11 and/or 12 (whose earlier chapters would have been serialized at the time Enishi was made) did get adapted, too.

I don't remember anything quite like the events of the episode 09 of Enishi "Pure White" for instance happening in the manga, at least not exactly how they did in the anime anyway where it was kinda sorta implied that spoiler[they made love in the hotel] although it's nothing but a vague hint. For instance Kouru did get spoiler[ hotel vouchers but when they did stay there events went somewhat differently]. I just get the impression that while AYA and Enishi animated some of the same basic events that were in the manga they weren't exactly entirely faithful to the manga and such events had outcomes and details changed (usually an expansion) which is what I mean by it being a slightly different experience. Does this make sense or am I just babbling, it has been about a year or so since I last rewatched them. Confused

Anyhow it's not really something that bothers me all that much I really like both incarnations.

Yes, that's one of the two main divergences towards the end of Enishi, the other being spoiler[Tina going to America and then coming back, whereas in the manga she was only in the "go back to America when I graduate" mode]. Together those spin off the plot lines that fill out the rest of the manga series.

Except for eliminating the nudity and rearranging certain events, the anime was more faithful to the source material than most manga adaptations, so until you get to the divergences mentioned above it's a very similar experience both ways.
