I guess the only thing Japanese men like more than cartoon girls acting cute is cartoon women who act like cartoon girls acting cute.

No Momokuri on the poll? I guess it's excluded due to it being streamed several months ago in Japan, but I'm following the Crunchyroll simulcast (based on the TV airing this season) and it's one of my most anticipated shows every week, alongside Food Wars S2, Sweetness and Lightning, New Game, Orange, and Amanchu. Also enjoying 91 Days and Cheer Boys more than I'd initially expect given my tastes. And of course, if counting continuing series, Re:Zero is highly anticipated too.

Good to see New Game doing great. My favorite slice of life show of the season. At first i didn't know much about it but after some good reviews i give it a try and is a very fun and good show i had to continue watching.

I think I computed this table right:

Code:
   All   Male   Female   Percent female
Tsukiuta. THE ANIMATION   192   0   192   100.0%
First Love Monster   179   10   169   94.4%
B-Project: Kodō Ambitious   242   14   228   94.2%
SERVAMP   207   12   195   94.2%
The Morose Mononokean   243   24   219   90.1%
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.   413   74   339   82.1%
DAYS   197   40   157   79.7%
The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Dust Storm Dance   349   106   243   69.6%
91 Days   302   102   200   66.2%
Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Future Arc   259   116   143   55.2%
Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Despair Arc   215   104   111   51.6%
Sweetness & Lightning   443   270   173   39.1%
Love Live! Sunshine!!   392   254   138   35.2%
This Art Club Has a Problem!   314   253   61   19.4%
Rewrite   211   173   38   18.0%
Qualidea Code   281   249   32   11.4%
New Game!   525   479   46   8.8%

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 3rei!!   118 to 159   118   0 to 41   0-25.8%
Food Wars! The Second Plate   194   38 to 103   91 to 156   46.9%-80.4%
Handa-kun   160   4 to 103   57 to 156   35.6%-97.5%
ReLIFE   163   7 to 103   60 to 156   36.8%-95.7%

The two Danganronpa series have the most even split, among series on more than one list. I notice that the male votes are more clustered than the female votes -- if you compare the number of male votes #N on the male list got to the female votes for #N on the female list, the top five male shows got more than the top five female ones, but it reverses starting with #6. This fits into what some of the ANN staff have mentioned about this season having an unusually wide selection of shows for women and girls.

EDIT: Thinking about it some more, this seems to be why the overwhelmingly male New Game! viewership was enough to put it at #1 overall, despite a near-equal gender balance among respondents. It reminds me of something I've seen at FanFiction.Net. Fanfic is dominated by women, but among the fics on this page, which shows the most-faved Harry Potter fics, the majority seem to be more "dude" fanfic, which would make sense if male readers latched onto individual members of a scarcer group, listing them among their favorites just because they cater to their tastes at all, while female readers are more discerning.

Am I talking out of my hat here? Or is this an actual statistical phenomenon? Does it have a name? I can imagine it showing up in analysis of voting systems.

New Game is pretty fun actually. It's nothing special, absolutely not, but it has its moments (ep 5 was the best so far). Didn't expect much from it, but glad I picked it up.

Sweetness and Lightning is the absolute best thing this season though. No contest if you ask me.

I still like the women's taste better though because of Saiki K, DAYS and 91 Days. Great shows.

New Game may have beat Love Live! on this poll, but Love Live! is decimating New Game in the pre-order points for disc sales. So who is the real winner? lol Anyway, I always find the female voters have more diverse tastes when it comes to anime. They tend to usually like a range of stuff.

Interesting though!

At the beginning of the season I was hyped for Food Wars, but its place in my queue was taken by Love Live Sunshine (a total surprise for me) and Mob Psycho 100, which is more amazing than I originally thought. My top three is completed with Sweetness and Lightning, which is a very endearing and relaxing show to watch every week (and Tsumugi is my ideal daughter).

Idol fans are a special breed. They're willing to buy multiples of the same item. Question is if the LL bds have some special item or lottery ticket too. I don't see LL pulling less than 40k even without these.

Rather surprised Danganronpa only ranked among men, since the fanbase is stereotyped as being mostly female. I guess that's only the case in the states.
