Sometimes it feels like only me and 3 more people watched this anime. I liked it a lot as I said in the last review. The Xmas concert felt a bit long at the beginning but I have to admit it got me emotional by the end. I did feel the staff got better at immersing us in the events while still keeping it entertaining (unlike the first season where I was just like: I appreciate the effort and risk taking but I really did not want to watch an entire variety show). I especially liked the detective show episode, how they kept cutting in and out of it.

Edit: I never did understand the title, though, Why 50?

To be fair, Shonen Hollywood came out in a season where there was a lot more idol star power running. I'm a big fan of utapri myself so in a choice of what to watch first I'd obviously choose my prince-samas...

This show didn't really get much respect and it's rather unfortunate. I felt like this was a harajuku'd, small firm version of Johnnys, and with boyband culture in Japan not as well known as the Korean counterparts, it didn't resonate as well with the western audience. From the looks of it, it didn't even resonate with the Japanese audience...I think Starmyu did a better job filling the stageplay idol gap for them.

I prefer more music and less melodrama and I feel like Shonen Hollywood had too much melodrama for it to be worth it for me. The nitty gritty of the idol business is in the background for a reason, and unless they focus on that, they would give viewers whiplash.

All in all, I liked it. Even with everything I said about it, I feel like it has a space in the male idol anime realm just as Wake Up, Girls does in the girl idol realm.
