4K remastering plus both widescreen and 4:3 screen ratios are enough for me to double-dip on the Blu-ray (already have Madman's release from Australia). Having the U.S. DVD commentary is great, too.

Would buy on UHD Blu-ray too, they should put it on there as well since they're doing a 4K remastering.

But only 5.1 Dolby surround. How can we fully appreciate the musical stylings of Stan Bush without full 7.1?

The film was originally mixed in Dolby Stereo, so if they're only including the shitty old 5.1 Upmix with muffled sound effects, I'll be muxing in the 2.0 pcm from the JP Laserdisc like I did with the UK Blu-ray.

4K full screen? I will be waiting so I can make my very personal Special Edition version of the movie.

The technical aspects (the various audio/visual formats) are Greek to me. However, be happy it is getting such a release.

That movie came out on 8/8/86 and that was 27 days before I was born. I first saw the movie about 20 years ago.

Not if it's just getting a regular blu-ray (which is 1080p). We'll get a good advantage of that on a 1080p TV from the better transfer than old releases. If they were to release a 4K blu-ray too though then yeah, you'd need one to take full advantage of the even better version.
