I wouldn't write it off entirely given the success of other text-heavy adventure games such as Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk, but I wouldn't hold my breath either.

Not even the evangelion games or the popular (and more interesting) Sakura taisen (sakura wars) have been released here and you expect this petty show's game to be released here?
not a chance mate, anime fans are not considered target audience on game sales....(that much...)

Scanned DVD sales from Oricon, Japan's counterpart to the US's Nielsen (Nielsen's Videoscan), tell a very different story.
On an animation DVD sales thread I started early this year on another forum - I cannot link to it due to ANN policy (you can search for it on the Internet) - an anime fan in Japan posts and updates scanned DVD sales figures from Oricon for many, many anime titles in Japan.
As of September 14, 2007, 7:11am PDT, below are scanned Haruhi DVD sales figures in Japan from Oricon.

According to Oricon, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya has sold 328,303 copies on DVD in Japan -- still an impressive number, but far less than 800,000.
According to a number of Japanese posters on animation DVD sales threads at Japan's 2ch message boards, the "more than 800,000" figure for Haruhi are for DVD shipments to DVD rental stores, brick and mortar retailers, etc. - not for actual DVD sales to individual customers.
Apparently using a similar approach, Bandai Namco also inflated DVD sales numbers for Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED DESTINY, when actual scanned DVD sales numbers for both titles from Oricon were substantially lower.
Nevertheless, according to Orion data, Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED DESTINY are the top two selling television animated series on DVD in Japan during the 21st century.
It has also been claimed that the first DVD of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya sold 60,000 copies in the US.

Whoa, the trouble with Oricon figures is that the company doesn't poll all outlets. Just like Nielsen's Videoscan, it can only survey a subset of the total number of Japanese outlets. We also have to see the long-term sell-through. Just like "over 800,000" is not the actual total sold to individual customers, "328,303" is not the actual total sold to individual customers either. The actual number is somewhere in between. In any case, by shipping to the outlets who did buy those shipments, Bandai Visual did sell those DVDs to those outlets. Returns are not as huge an issue as they are in the United States.

Based on observations by Japanese fans, I reported this also, a number of times before, here and elsewhere.
Do you have any idea how much between the actual number of DVD sales to customers are?

Some idea. The difference is not the difference between "over 800,000" and "328,303." The difference is closer, thanks to Oricon's limited surveying reach.

I have another question.
In one of my earlier posts on the ANN forums, I cited an article from a Japanese business magazine, Economist, in which 10,000 copies sold per DVD volume is described as a break-even point.
Since nearly all anime series on DVD in Japan average less than 10,000 copies sold per volume according to Oricon, a Japanese poster pointed out that the break-even point refers to DVD shipments, not to DVD sales to individual customers.
How does this sound to you?

No, the PlayStation Portable handheld is region free for video games, meaning if you buy a US PSP you can play Japanese Games without modding, however, you cannot play UMD Movies from other regions as those are region specific. And if you buy one, buy the Slim and Lite, so you can actually make those UMD movies worth the "Universal Media Disc" name.
