I don't feel "offended" or anything like that most of the time. People have their own opinions, but I prefer it if they have an explanation on why they have such an opinion. For example, a few months ago someone was saying how marimite sucks (another forum). I asked that person why he thought about it that way, and all he said it's because he doesn't like it, even if he hadn't watched one episode of it. He was basically being a troll because he kept on posting on the marimite thread. That's when I get annoyed.

It actually depends if they're talking about a certain anime or anime as a whole. If it just a certain anime, that's their opinion, and I still respect it (as long as they have moderately good reasons). If someone just says "anime sucks" as a whole, well that's just close minded. I'm sure they haven't seen all anime in existence, so to say all of it sucks with just experiencing one or a few titles is pretty ignorant to me.
How do I actually feel though? Maybe annoyed, depends on the situation. I actually don't really care about people just saying it if the subject happens to be brought up. But people making sites dedicating to hating on anime kind of gets on my nerves. But then again any site made for the sole reason of hating on something would probably get on my nerves...

Anime haters? Who cares? It's a free country, so knock yourself out. Hate anime all you want. Hell, hate anime FANS all you want too; I won't care. It's no skin off my back. As for people who hate the planet, or hate civil liberties, or hate consumer protections? Now *THAT'S* when I get pissed. I mean if you're going to let something get to you, well, you might as well make it something important.

Everyone's got their own opinions. Though what I hate the most is when people say that they detest anime with all their heart and soul and can't give a definite explanation why, AND also bash the people who love what they hate.
And to be honest, I used to be one of those people who wasn't so much into anime, "just because". People's ideas and opinions can change over time. A hardcore otaku can suddenly outgrow anime, and someone who balks at the mention of the subject can eventually learn to love it. We just have to respect that.

To me its not that big a deal. Anime is just a hobby, and they are just a bunch of haters. There are so many different ways animation is used and so many different stories that are told through it that saying that you hate anime is a little vague. To me its not even about the form a story is told or displayed, if i think that the story is gold then it doesnt matter to me what format its portrayed in.
I would just ask for examples of what anime they have seen, chances are its probably just some crappy americanized show.

For both cases, oftentimes, I'd just shrug my shoulders a bit, smile a bit, then get back to what I was doing. Unless I'm in a sufficiently argumentative mood, and I know the person making the comment (or I'm on a forum or such), then I'd ask them the reasons for their opinion, and hopefully a fruitful discussion may come up.
But really, I'm more amused than annoyed when I hear comments like that. Even if I don't answer their comment, at least it'll give me a little something to think (and talk to myself) about...

When someone says that they hate anime as a whole or that it's all porn, it is EXTREMELY obvious that they have no clue as to what they are talking about. Unless this person was just walking by you and spouted off this nonsense, you do have a chance to change their mind. Of course, you do have to be careful as to what titles you initally show them, but you do have a chance to get them to see that it's not all porn and kiddie shows.
If it is a person who says that they hate one particular series, perhaps that you should find out why. I hate Naruto. I've seen a few episodes and I can't stand it. But, on the other hand, I really enjoy Bleach and that is a somewhat similar show to Naruto.
But, generally if it is a particular show, then you will have a harder time getting that person to "see the light" then if they said they hated anime all together.

Doesn't matter to me, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and frankly, I probably think some of the things they like suck too. No skin off my nose either way.

Pitty for them, because they're missing out on an awesome, expansive, and diverse medium of entertainment possibillities because of their ignorance and close-mindedness.

If they don't like anime, they don't like anime. I don't care. Some of the arguments used for not liking anime are pretty amusing though, like when people compare it to child porn. But whatever, freedom of speech and all that good stuff. I'm sure there are things they really like that I hate as well. I'd have to wonder how much time someone has to create a whole site dedicated to the fact that they really hate anime and how much they hate anime, but if that's how they want to spend their free time, they can go for it. The few anti-anime sites I have seen were pretty stupid though; I think they could've done a lot better of a job with them. But whatever, I didn't like anime either until a couple years ago so I can kind of understand why someone else might not like it.

It depends. If he/she's saying he/she doesn't like a particular series (yes, people, my fave series included), I respect it, but if someone says he/she hates anime and calls it something like 'it's porn' or 'it's satanic', let's justsay that annoyed is a pretty bad understatement.
As we say here (roughly translated): Ignorance is bold.

As most have said there's a bit of a difference between hating "anime" and a particular show or aspect.
For those who hate anime as a whole and find it something just for kids or silly or pointless I ignore them. I'm sure I feel the same about hobbies they enjoy. It's a free world. When people made ignorant rude statements along the lines of all anime is just cartoon porn or just for virgins who can't get laid I get annoyed. It's one thing to not like anime but another to say rude arrogant comments such as those. Those people I tell to go stick their head up an elephants ass. I just have a personal problem with rude ignorant blanket judgments from people who probably don't know a damn thing about the topic they're insulting.
As for specific things, that's a different story. At this point I assume they're a fan of anime. While they may be criticizing a show or director or whatever other specific thing they are watching anime more then likely. If someone criticizes a show I like I ask why. I ask them what their basis for their dislike is. I try and mention positive aspects I think the show demonstrates but I don't fault them for not liking the show. I'll of course try and spread the joy of shows I like but I know everyone has their own tastes and I don't fault them for that as long as they avoid the rude blanket judgments of course. The other day a person I know said Black Lagoon was just simple and not entertaining. I of course had to debate with him his thoughts because I worship at the Black Laggon church and it's high priestess Revy. Alternately he loved Desert Punk and I felt that show was bland and not original in any way really. nothing wrong with differences. The same goes for those who don't like a certain director, production company (Bones or Studio Deen for example), or distribution company (Like ADV or Media Blasters).
In the end most people who don' care for it don't bother me. Most are simply indifferent and just don't care about it, and them not liking anime really does not affect my life one bit so why get upset?

I've never met anyone that made blanket statements like "F*** anime. Everyone that watches it is a loser." in real life so I've never had to deal with extremes. Most people I know at least like NGE or Cowboy Bebop so haters aren't common to me. When someone says that anime is dumb or whatever I just act similar to how someone would if they were told their favourite band sucked. I get sorta mad and tell them they're wrong. I don't fly off the handle or hold it against them or anything but I make my opinion known.
