So, since they'll be releasing the sequel but not the prequel, i'm guessing you don't need to have played Burst to understand this one, right?

If u mean the boobs and stuff, that also was in the Japanese version tho im sure since this is PC gaming we are talking about, we are gonna get mods.

I believe they're different universes
Shinovi Verses is in the same Universel as Estival VS(most recent game) though.

The in-game censorship of body parts is purposely done and is present in the English and Japanese releases. I'm sure someone will make a mod concerning that some point after release.

I wouldn't really call it different universes. It's just the 3DS games like Burst and Deep Crimson are the main games while the Vita/Steam/PS4 games are more spin-offs which use a more Dynasty Warriors gameplay(but better). The 3DS games play more like the Ikki Tousen PSP games. Similar gameplay, but the spin-offs don't play in that sort of side-scrolling platformer style because you have a more open field.

I wouldn't really call Shinobi Versus's Musou inspired gameplay better unless you like weirdly short at time and somewhat smaller levels and every level having a single objective.
