I know this is a silly question but do Nintendo allow this?

It's fan-made from scratch, so it's not taking the original copyright (well maybe for the music). But it is using trademarked characters, though if there's no harm being done to the trademark, then going to court may not be worth it

Although I found the reference of The Wild Thornberrys to be a bit off-putting (see Nigel Thornberry near the start), the recreation of the SSBM intro is an awesome sight!

Interesting. It seems like they just let everyone do what they wanted as far as staying accurate, going for parody or just aping it in a nonsensical way. I think it would work better if they set at least a common direction so it flowed better.

Yeah, I think that would've made a better production overall. I'm guessing the vastly different styles was a deliberate choice though, to highlight that this was the video equivalent of a collage.
A bit unfair though, if you askme, that some people got like 7 seconds and other people got about a quarter of a second.

Usually the animators in these type of projects pick the length of their cut based on schedules. It's less the production manager going "okay, well, you only get 2 seconds, this person gets 7 because I said so."

Ah, I see. That actually makes a lot of sense.

Oh, I was just referring to the direction of each cut, not the look/style of it. Some scenes parodied the opening, others were faithful, etc. That's the thing I think worked have worked better with a single direction. Either it's all satire, or it's all faithful etc.
