A few notes coming from the premiere event on Twitter.
-The CG transformations are gone, they are all new & hand drawn (similar to Chibimoon's transformation in Act 25). -Moon Pride is gone, the new opening song is performed by Etsuko Yakushimaru (best known for the Penguindrum OP songs). The ED song is replaced too but it's unknown as to who exactly performed it. EDIT: New article with info on the OP & ED songs. http://www.anime-recorder.com/ArticleDetail.aspx?seq_no=7004 The ED song is apparently a duet with Uranus & Neptune's seiyuus. Suddenly my problem of it looking too much like PreCure means nothing. So glad the CG transformations are gone, and Moon Pride. Hopefully the new opening song will be better......although why they don't bring back Moonlight Legend is beyond me. |

It always makes me smile to think that, after the arc in which the Senshi had to fight spoiler[as close a representation of Death personified as possible,] their next Big Bad is... A nerd living and making monsters literally out of his basement. I don't make fun of the idea, it actually elevates that latter arc for me - it certainly spoke volumes of Dr. Tomoe's geek credentials if he managed to measure up to the last Bad. It's also the only SM arc I have not seen in its entirety, so I should remediate that.

I am surprisingly somewhat excited about this. I mean, I did not care for the previous season at all, and ended up just dropping it near the end of the Dark Kingdom arc... and even the old anime I thought had the potential for greatness but was dragged down by endless overly repetive monster-of-the-week antics causing me to just grow utterly bored by it by the end of S... but I remember from the manga that this arc was where the story started picking up in quality, plus it seems just about all the major players from the last series have been replaced, meaning the myriad of issues I had with that might no longer be there.
I mean, one thing I can already say is that the animation looks much better. |

You had me at no more CG transformation sequences.
I'm looking forward to this! After the disaster that was the first and second season of Crystal, I can see the improvement in this new season. It also helps that Sailor Saturn is my favorite scout so I'm super pumped to see her. |

Now since this series hasn't been delayed for years and put onto a semi-monthly release schedule FOR THE NET, it has the chance of not looking terrible. No idea about the writing, that could be the same since it's supposed to be the same person again.
It's gonna be weird having to say to skip the first season(s) of Crystal and just jump right into the third. |

After watching it, it doesn't really look that different from Crystal, just mainly the eyes and other small designs here and there, so that's good to me.

I still prefer the previous two seasons' style that I felt would have benefitted from better animation production. If they had used as much effort/quality seen in the animation of "I will punish you" of each senshi in the actual first two arcs of Crystal, it would have been a good production. But they were thought fans would just be okay with terrible quality for the web. However, this season the characters definitely look like they actually have emotion and possibly even a personality. That is a plus. Now what I don't like is that this reminds me of Pretty Cure.

Are we sure it's all new footage ? I thought some of it some taken from the original 90s series. But maybe I'm wrong.
