What?? How was this even "emotional" i found it as a another boring commercial during the superbowl. It was so bland and lame CG. Also, who actually cares?

And 1 in 5 also reported themselves now seeking psychotherapy because of longterm traumas induced by Mountain Dew's FuzzyPuppyMonkeyBaby (shudder!).
(So, c'mon, it's an annual tradition as sacred as the ads themselves--Were there any inappropriate Super Bowl ads banned for life this year, like the kissing car repair guys, or walking Christopher Reeve, or HAL for Apple computers? I would've put money down on the Dew ad, but just wanted to make sure.)
And yeah, I was more confused than tearful--I'm not sure how Pokemon relates to achievement in chess and football, or whether it's supposed to be on the same level of inspiration, or....?--but it is the best live-creatures commercial we've gotten so far.

Definitely not my favorite Super Bowl commercial that goes to the Toyota Prius bank robbery but the creepiest prize goes to that Damn Puppy, Monkey, Baby, I still get shivers down my spine every time I see it.

I teared up at it. I teared up at it when I first saw it, when I showed it to my Mom, when I showed it to my roommate, when I showed it to my roommate's boyfriend, and still teared up when it actually played during the game.

Really? To each to their own, I guess. Honestly, I thought it was one of Pokémon's worser American commercials.

Yeah although I didn't actually cry when I watched the commercial, I did think the "I can do that" (even more so in Japanese for some reason ) was a nice touch, only that last bit at the end where the guy whispered to the boy "you can do that" and then the camera zoomed into his eyes glued to the TV really brought on the 'feels' for me though

It was alright in my opinion, because honestly most of those commercials were ridiculous and I fell asleep through most of the game after the 1st quarter of the superbowl right up till the 4th quarter of the beginning.

Speaking as a sub elitist I'm with you on that one. I was rolling my eyes at the commercial especially when I saw the American catch phrase gotta catch em all. I imagine the people who got emotional probably watched the show when it was on American TV and stopped a few years later so they were nostalgic. I can't be nostalgic because I'm still watching the show every week when the subs pop up so you can't be nostalgic for something current. Also liked how despite being a Japanese franchise there was only one Asian in the entire commercial. I think Japan's anniversary for the franchise was a lot better. Red and Green nendoroids, woot.

It's a worldwide franchise. They aim their products to a global audience. The commercial reflects that.

Tbh the commercial got me really emotional.
Pokemon is such a huge part of my childhood especially the games. 20 years since pokemon creation is crazy.

You wanna play it that way, how about the fact that it was filmed in Brazil, so most of the people in it are Brazilian?

I myself didn't find the Pokémon Superbowl commercial to be that exciting myself. Perhaps the reason it was emotionally touching for some could be that they stopped watching and/ or playing Pokémon after the Indigo League season was over. I find Japan and Europe's celebration of Pokémon's 20th anniversary to be more thrilling with their Nendoroids of Red and Blue (Green) and their color-commemored 2DS bundles of the Red, Green (Japan only), Blue, and Yellow Versions. If only they were available for America...

While I didn't care for the commercial at all I'm not sure how you can say the bolded. The Anime is still airing and has been airing for years in America, I should know I watch it every Saturday morning on Cartoon Network so I too watch it weekly too! It's also not too far behind the Japanese episode current airing as well.
