I think many people are in love-hate relationship with this anime but anyway one of the best animes that was made recently in this past years, it simply offers somethin new with how they went with all the stuff.

finally ! a review of akame g akill that does not even use the phrase "shock value" ! I like to ocmpare the plot of this show to old animes form the 70s/80s where death was also ever present and the world overall was horrible, still nto as bad as go nagai's stuff, tho.

This one proved to be a bit of an oddity as far as my opinion goes. Sometimes I found myself enjoying it quite a bit, and other times it felt kind of "meh."
I'll give the members of Night Raid credit as far as their attitudes towards their role in the revolution goes. Even if they felt they were in the right, they didn't claim that they were necessarily good considering they were still murdering people. Even more so when you consider the various guards and soldiers that they killed in order to reach some targets. My own take on Agame ga Kill: "So?" There's a certain flaw in the series in that all the villains are so villainous and powerful, it's not just a wonder that the heroes are in such a perilous position, the audience has to question how people are still alive.
"Well, it's an artificial set-up." As if I couldn't tell from the fact that one character's power is based on how much danger that person is in. She kaio ken get it done... if the author so choses. Hoo ray. So, yeah, it developed the DBZ ennui for me by episode 7. |

I read the first 7-8 chapters of the manga. Is the anime better? I found the manga to be quite dull.

^ The anime moves faster, so I think it might be more to your taste in that regard. But only if the story itself is interesting to you - otherwise, you aren't likely to enjoy it no matter what the format, since it doesn't really change on that front.

"commentary"? Does that mean Sentai finally started with episode commentary again? (after ADV i meant).
Unlike most people, I loved Akame ga Kill alot. One of the few shows I actually watched in subs every week. I was sad that after episode 19 it went orginal, I rather would have seen it followed the manga. Yet its not bad, but not great either if you compare it with the first 19 episodes. |

Already have my copy. Since the final dub episode is next week (and the dub has been pretty good), the Blu-Ray will give me a chance to hear the Japanese voices. I did watch a brief clip in Japanese previously, but Mine's voice was a bit too screechy for me in that scene.

I really need to watch this show again, because when I watched Akame Ga Kill, I was kind of new to anime. I just didn't care about themes, or tropes or clichés (actually, I didn't know anything about them), so my experience with the show was amazing and loved it (except for Tatsumi, he's annoying). It was my favorite of that year and didn't find so many stupid moments. But now that time has passed, and now that I know a bit more about all these tropes and stuff, I wonder if my enjoyment will be the same, because now that I think about it, AgK has its moments of sheer stupidity.
It would be amazing if Crunchyroll got the rights to stream the dub version, though. |

I believe "commentary" was in reference to what the actual characters have to say in the show, not the actors. As for the anime original episodes, I think that is where a lot of my mixed feelings on the show come from. On the one hand, I'm glad that we actually did get an ending, but on the other hand, I'm not thrilled with how things played out. I suppose I'd say that I favor at least getting an ending since I've seen way too many series that leave things open for a second season that never happens. |

Not at all. The bad guys are bad and the good guys are good. That's it. Even the nicer antagonists like Wave probably wouldn't stick with the Empire if they really knew what was up. It's mostly just "kill the mean sadists because they are mean and bad". If the point here was to have a morally grey story, then the ratio of white to black is way too skewed. |

Well I thoroughly enjoyed Akame ga Kill and have watched all the Dubbed episodes on Toonami and the ending well it was better than not having one but my favorite thing about Akame is that the characters you fall in love with can actually die only they don't come back to life once they die like in some shows.
