It sounds refreshing and looks cute. I don't know if I'm very interested, but I'll probably keep it in mind if I catch up with my backlog.

Wonder if they'll ever use real kids, like it's not that uncommon in the West

Sounds like it could be very cute and sweet. I could dig that.
So much backlog, but I may just have to check this out regardless lol. It's nice to see a series about prepubescent love that (hopefully) doesn't fetishize the kids.

No, I'm pretty sure it'll be animated.

My first thought when I saw that promo image was: "....is that Sana and Akito?"

If all goes well, the show could turn out to be an adorably fun watch.

Oh my gosh, the art is a stereotypical shojo manga art that's been around for many years unchanging. No wonder it looks the same as many shojo series I read a few years ago. Really nothing charming about the art. Meh
I have to say that "Nekota no Koto ga Kininatte Shikatanai." by Rie Oouta is a lot better and funnier and the theme is even similar about a girl who is slowly discovering the secrets of growing up.

So....like a present-day version of Kodomo No Omocha but without the insanity.
Hell yes, sign me up.

The exact same thing can be said about shounen manga, you know.
It doesn't change because the target audience LIKES it.

Just imagine:
A less-than-scrupulous newspaper editor wrote: | GIRLS COME OF AGE AT 12 ON SICK JAPAN TV SHOW |
Fortunately the presses, for all their ills, tend to be more strategic in their choice of targets.

I'm confused...have you read Age 12? I ask because, the first paragraph of your post makes it seem like you haven't. Mainly because it seems like you're "surprised" by the art...
Oh, and I had a look at the MAL synopsis for the manga you mentioned:
Quote: | A girl named Mikiko sees the face of a popular boy in her class as a cat's face. |
2 things came to my mind:
1. That sounds hilarious
2. While I can't remember the name of the manga, I remember there being one that has a collage aged student who has a boy friend that has the head of a cat
I think I'll check Age 12 out, as I haven't really seen a "cute and innocent" anime since Aishiteruze Baby. Saw that one over a year ago.

Isn't it funny that shojo always suffers these claims, but shonen doesn't.
(Even though both have plenty of similar styles and varied styles; but you know, only one kind of style exists for shojo.)
But yeah, also the fact that people like it. It's cute~!

"Always"? The complaint above is the very first time I've heard someone complain about a "stereotypical shoujo style".

That's a...generous...reinterpretation of the title.
