I know this is sort of crazy, but In what format do you prefer to read manga. Personally I prefer to read it the traditional Japanese way. Right to left.

All mine read right to left. But then, they don't come in left to right, so that's just to be expected....

Manga should be read in the fashion it is written, be it left to right or right to left....

The direction doesn't matter to me at all. I easily and quickly switch from one way to another.

But what i do care about is that the manga is kept in it's original format. So if it was originally printed in the right to left format, then i want it kept that way. Too often seeing a mirrored image just throws things off (especially when someone is talking about their right hand, and yet they are holding up their left hand).

Doesn't matter to me as long as I get to read it. Smile
I can easily switch between both formats, although most of the manga I have are in the traditional format. I don't have much manwha, but it doesn't bother me to read it left to right.

Although there are time when I'll pick up a magazine and open it the wrong way. Habit I guess.Anime smallmouth

I prefer the original layout, simply because that's how the author presented it. However, I have no severe grievances with flipped manga.

Neither do I, though "flipped" manga tends to have lots of errors.

To me it's the Traditional Japanese way. Why because it's very unique and it does not mess with the manga-ka's work.

I prefer it in it's original format. If it gets flipped, then there can be all kinds of problems, like mirroring. Suddenly everyone is left handed, or uniforms are on backwards, etc.

I'm very happy to see that North American manga companies are starting to leave the manga alone. Trigun, Hellsing, and Berserk are unflipped. This leaves more time for translating correctly!

Right to left the traditional way. Besides they don't even make them left to right. I don't think they do.

I can take it either way, but one of the editors at the Comics Journal pointed out something interesting; When the manga is translated and unflopped, you're reading the pictures right-to-left but still reading the text left-to-right, so you're reading in two different directions, eyes pinballing back and forth. For that reason I slightly prefer flopped.

I noticed that with Newtype USA, and while it wasn't really annoying it was a little wierd. I haven't read any manga unflipfloped but I think I prefer flipped.

Both ways seem natural to me now.

However, I don't like the flipped images when specific details will be screwed up, like a scar on the left cheek is on the right, the character is left handed, etc. It makes the whole scene seem off.

Also, the way vertical text was presented in Onegai Teacher really bothered me. It's like they put it in backwards or something. Confused If the manga had been flipped, perhaps this wouldn't have been as noticeable.

Oh My Goddess is one manga that is still being printed in the flopped left-to-right format. I'm used to it by now, but sometimes i hate seeing a mirrored image. One such image that looked too wrong was a gameboyish handheld game system with the D-pad on the left side... it just looks so wrong.

Why do they even bother when it is cheaper and easier to leave it right to left? [plus hardcores like us don't notice mirrored images and stuff like that Surprised ]
