Because this year the anime brought in a lot of new readers who then buy the back issues next year it will be only new volume sales.

This happens with most series.

Did not happen with AoT and my bet it will not happen with The 7, because both series suck you in and do not let you go, unlike some others *cough*Magi*cough*

AoT

2012 - 2,682,504
2013 - 15,933,801 (anime release year)
2014 - 11,728,368
2015 - 8,778,048

That looks like a decline to me.
