I always scope out the dealers' room on Sunday in hopes of finding a bargain. I've already bought the merchandise that I definitely wanted earlier, so Sunday is about checking to see if the items I wanted, but not that badly, are on sale. I have noticed that discounts seem to be less prevalent lately, which I chalk up to many of the dealers going to more conventions in the upcoming weeks, and possibly having an online presence.
As for the rest of the convention, most of the time the stuff I want to attend on Sunday is done by noon, so it simply isn't worth sticking around another two or three hours for closing ceremonies. Any big announcements, like finding out the con would be moving in a few years, end up on the website anyway. |

The other thing is that under most circumstances, the convention has to leave the site on Sunday. For staff, the schedule is usually tear down the show in the late afternoon, then have dinner in the evening and/or go home.

Looking at the massive archive of Answerman articles, there was once a Ms. Answerman in the form of Rebecca Bundy. She debuted in 2002 to help out on occasion, & came back full-time in 2003 to let Zac focus on school & such. According to the archive, she had the position until September 2005 when Zac returned regularly, followed by Brian Hanson & then Justin. I wonder if that could ever be a future ANNCast, where Zac gets Justin, Brian, & Rebecca to reminisce about their "glory days" of being Answermen. |

I realize this question about anime conventions, but in comparison, San Diego Comic Con is never dead on Sundays. Hall H packs them in for panels for that day and the exhibition floor is still jam packed with people until they kick everyone out for another year.

Sakura Con certainly isn't dead on Sundays. Not as busy as Fri or Sat, sure, but certainly not dead.

I think it really depends on the general mood & feel of a con. At this year's AnimeNEXT, for example, I kept seeing pictures of con-goers at the venue hanging out & playing around on Sunday all the way until seemingly just before it got dark, hours after the con was essentially over with. Personally, I'm okay with Sunday being a slower, more dead, day. I usually give the dealer's room one last look, get my last panels of interested visited, & then head home. Granted, I do almost always have work the next day, but that works just fine for me. |

As a vendor I can speak from experience especially for smaller shows SUNDAY IS DEAD! Sales are generally a third at best of what they are on saturday if not less. it's not even that uncommon for people to not get any sales at all on sunday.
Also yes it is common for me to have to drive 8 hours home. after the full shift at my booth, and then packing up my booth (many times by myself again). so it's not uncommon for me to finally get home at 2 am. Also TBH most people don't ever put strong sales on sunday they just put stuff that refuses to move in blind boxes which are basically a common thing for all vendors now. |

FWIW, as the OP, my nudge to send in this Q was that I could only make Sunday at Youmacon, since I'd spent the rest of the week cleaning up the affairs of my suddenly-deceased brother, and only went to the con because I had a panel to give at 10:30 Sunday. So I hit the dealer's room thinking "I really need to cut loose, and I have $200 to spend and don't want to go home until it's spent." I would have bought my Anime Central badge, but they'd already bailed and didn't even bother with their table. In the end, I came home with some artist alley prints (stuff you don't usually see, like Nozaki-kun) a couple Nendoroids, and gifts for my kids. So I did OK. And honestly, Youmacon's dealer room was going stronger on Sunday than AWA's. Oh crap, I forgot to buy Orguss. Dammit, why do I keep forgetting to buy Orguss? |

They could then make this collumn "The Answermen."
But yeah, I tend to be quite disappointed in cons on Sunday. Often I have to get all my stuff out of the hotel by the noon cutoff, and there's a bunch of running around and saying goodbyes. By the time I'm set to get back to the con there'll be a handful of panels and the Dealer's Room will have mere hours left to it. Sunday isn't a even a half day, its pretty much over by noon. Quarter Day...or something. Ah, I do wish my local con would give a little more love to Sunday. Maybe we wouldn't be so tired on Sunday if there wasn't as much running around the prior days. Just saying that as an attendee and Panelist. They certainly don't do this on a whim, I know they know more than I do when they plan these things. |

I was the Tech intern this year at Youmacon 2015 and I have to say that what "The Answerman" Column wrote is totally 100% true... This was also my first year to a Con and I live in Texas.
I was tired and had a fun time.. but I did not hardly do anything that day because I knew that "Tear down" was comming.... The Closing ceramony was suppose to end at 6:00 but did not end till 7:00... Right after that it was time to tear everything down and load up the trucks... Time to finish everything before I could go to bed... almost 3am..    ... And Yeah SUPER tired on the flight back home the next day.

On Suday this year at ACen, though, I did get my ultimate fan moment when I was the only attendee at a panel for Akitaroh Daichi at 10AM. It turned into 45 minutes of us talking about Jubei-chan and Mushi-shi. I'm now much more inclined to check out "TBA" panels on Sunday mornings...
