See, he says that, but then the photo you've got makes me question the authenticity of his response.

To be fair, Square Enix owns all the rights to all of his compositions for FF7, and they have more than enough musician talent at their disposal to make modern rearrangements of the important themes in a manner that is faithful to the original. Uematsu doesn't really need to be involved at all. As sad as it is to imagine him not involved in it. But really, I didn't expect him to be anyway.

also, they do not love to work on their old earlier and "crap" works, like some Anime Directors, too

This makes me despair. It's not FF without Uematsu, in my mind.

I wonder if Takeharu Ishimoto will be taking involved with the remake then. He did a fantastic job with the composition of Crisis Core.

As if there weren't enough reasons to be apprehensive over this. I can't see this ending well considering that the talent pool at SE is pathetic and all the people who contributed anything meaningful to FFVII are gone.

I'd actually be fine with Masashi Hamauzu. Say what you will about FFXIII, but to me Hamauzu is roughly the same caliber with Uematsu.
By this I mean that I'd expect Hamauzu or someone else mostly arrange the original soundtrack. I really doubt they'd make totally new theme songs and such. So the melodies would be still there. It would be stupid not to use them.
I'm not worried yet.

You do realize that Nomura, Nojima, and Hashimoto were the big three of Final Fantasy VII right? All three of them are involved, except that Nomura stepped up to the director's chair(Unknowingly) and Hashimoto stepped up to producer. Besides Uematsu, those are the three that originally made Final Fantasy VII.

Well it is no surprise. But again like one of the commenters stated they have enough of his music to make rearrangements. Since seeing this article I had wondered the same thing. What will be the music arrangement for this new version be? What will stay and what will be omitted?
I've always loved Uematsu's work from the first day I played FFIV (aka FFII). So I've followed his compositions for years. I don't think FF7 would be FF7 without the tracks he composed however I'm open to a broader mix of his work and some of the newer composers, like Hamauzu who has done his fair share along with Uematsu's work.
I'm surprised that Nobura is doing to direct this work, as he stated in the past that he wouldn't as he was busy handling FFXV.

Well, he was working on three projects: FFXV, KHIII, and FFVIIR. They moved him off of XV so he could devote more of his time to KHIII and FFVIIR, two games that only he was really qualified to direct. Tabata understood his vision enough to take over XV. It is funny though that Nomura had no idea he was the director for VIIR until a year after it had begun development. He thought Hashimoto was taking the director's seat again, and Hashimoto thought that Nomura was the director. And then they both laughed when they figured out that little miscommunication.

Music is the only things I'm not worried about in FF7 since most of the music from game in the last 10 year of square enix game are pretty solid. They have many other very talented people to help out.
There still gonna screw up the gameplay and story though.

Well..it's not like the music will be different anyway. Squeenix owns the music itself, he just created it for them..
They already have a vocal of Aerith's Theme; and the music has been redone for the Black Mages cds as well; and remade for the Advent Children Movie where used...and Crisis Core.
They don't need him there again as he did his work years ago; the story and visuals are taking the change....as the so-far credits credit no new music composer that means its not changing.
...and why would they need to?
