Just a note: The Nendo for Renge is a re-release. She was originally released back in November 2014. Hotaru is the new release.

^ "Flat" is a better description of Renge's "normal" face than the term "disinterested" used in the article.
While Renge's face is hardly realistic, you do see kids in the real world whose natural expression is "serious" even if they're happy. It doesn't mean they're disinterested, it just means that's how their face works. |

^ Yeah, I'm not a Nendoroid fan either as I prefer figures with the same proportions as how any given character appears in the anime, manga and/or game, but Nendoroids do work better with elementary-school-aged characters simply because their heads are already proportionally bigger compared to your typical anime high school student, so, while Renge's head is still exaggerated compared to how she normally looks in the anime, it's not by nearly as much as most other Nendoroids.
The only Nendoroid I've really ever been tempted to own was Chiaki Minami from Minami-ke, who is another elementary-school-aged character, but Minami-ke is too obscure an anime for my local anime store to import any merchandise for it and it was just a little too expensive for me to import myself when it was new. |
