I'm finding this series to be very enjoyable. The addition of Winner has livened things up. That "A stake to the heart would kill anyone" line was very funny and clever. As Key pointed out, the dub performances are getting better. I'm looking forward to the next volume.
I have noticed that Geneon is really cranking out a lot of different series at the same time which seems to be at the expense of significant extra content. One may not have to do with the other, but it sure seems like there's a connection. Ah well, as long as the shows themselves are great, I'm satisfied.

I am very conflicted about this series. I want to like it, I really do, but I have a hard time supporting a company that continues to outsource dubs to a company that has proven itself to be very mediocre. To Odex's credit, this volume did improve considerably compared to Volume 1, but it still falls short of what is typically seen from the top dub studios found here in North America. The frustration for me is I am a fan of the manga, so I was looking forward to this series. I may still eventually pick this up, but so far I am not convinced. The vampire hunter character seems to be an anime only character (although I have only read what Tokyopop has released so far, so maybe he shows up later), and the show seems to be moving away from the storyline in the manga. Animation quality is on the weak side, too - not what I expect from J.C. Staff. In its favor, the orginal performance does include one of my favorite Seiyuu in Aya Hisakawa as Kenta's mother. All in all, this is still a wait and see series for me.

Oh, this review reminded me that I need to pick up DVD 2. Thanks for that.
After being crushed by the quality of the dub on the first DVD, I'm glad to hear that it has improved somewhat. Let's hope that it continues to improve.

I didn't think I was going to like this series, but found myself won over by the first episode. That is weird that Weiner (who reminds me a bit of Ryouga) wasn't in the manga which would explain why his silhouette is darkened in the first few episodes. Some of the best humor stems from him, my favorite being when he encounters Karin's brother and father on the street. I also found all of the classical music somewhat interesting.
I think the whole coming of age bleeding plot seems a bit allegorical to me. This is far less disturbing than the premise of Pretear, where the males take turn combining (in a naked transformation cut scene) with the protagonist to create unique super powers. I'm not one of those people who usually reads too deeply into these things (IE Little Red Riding Hood) but I can't seem to avoid it in Karin.

I'm surprised by all the "Winner is a nice addition to the cast" comments. I've only heard people say that he's an incredibly annoying character. Guess I'm not the only one who found him amusing. This show does get better as it goes on.

To clarify my stance: At the very first introduction of Winner, he was annoying to me. However, he quickly grew on me and is one of my favorites in the show. I think it was the ridiculous duel with Kenta that was the turning point for me.

I didn't like him at first either, cause his accent/voice annoyed me, but I got used to it and eventually I found his voice funny.
