It's not fair to judge the entire series by two chapters, so I'm just giving my initial impression of it. I'll say that it comes off a lot less annoying than that "Art School Confidential" movie, because it's not just looking for easy punch-lines; it's trying to tell a story. And the story's ok so far, but, other than being set in an art school, it seems to heading into the reverse harem territory, and I'd like to see more than that. For example, it'd be nice if the author explores the student's motivations for attending the school. If it's just gonna be about romances they have while painting and sculpting, I'll be bored fast. So it doesn't suck, but it doesn't quite grab me yet.

It's a lot of love triangles, it does get more in to Takemoto's character too. It also get more serious as it goes on.

I'm not sure whether to look forward to reading this manga or not. I watched the first episode of the anime (well...half of the first episode) but it was just moving so slow. But I think that might work better in the manga, because usually manga's pacing is a bit slower and it doesn't seem as dull.

From what I remember, it is really a slice of life kind of story more than a romance. Which does make it a little boring and drag in spots if your not into that sort of thing. It has it's amusing points but I read in scanlated (and sometimes they take huge liberties to make it funnier than it really is) so things may change in the American release.

Yeah, it definitely came off as VERY slice of life to me, which isn't something I really enjoy.

Honey and Clover is a sweet story of college life and romance and I appreciate it for what it is. It's sort of a niche title and it's very slice-of-life, so if you don't enjoy that, you probably won't like it. It's true that H&C drags on a little bit and sometimes it can be boring. But I like how it doesn't try to be anything it's not. It's a simple story, a thoughtful one, and maybe that why I like it so much.

I was so happy that they said they would be putting 2 chapters in per month. But then when i realized how short they were, they'd have to put in 2 chapters or they'd never release the tankous.
Anywho, I actually quite liked the intro to the series. It seems like it could be much deeper than it lets on, but still be funny and light hearted. I like that in a series. I'm also quite fond of slice of life style, so if the series continues in that vein I will absolutely love it. |

Ok, I'll admit it got more amusing in the October issue. I'll see how it goes, but I might still only go for the graphic novels.

I liked the dozen or so chapters I read before it got licensed, but overall I was kind of disappointing considering how amazing the anime is. The excellent character development is bound to still be there, but the writing and the direction of the show really took the already great premise to another level.

I like that the art style is so different. It's not really pretty. but it's....i don't know..it stands out. i've been reading shojo for a really long time and there's so much out there lately that you notice how much of it is formulaic. I like Morita. Not to fond of the other male lead with the short blond hair. would have to say that he's the most uninteresting character. can't even think of his name a the moment. I was very impressed with the first chapter but then i watched the first episode of the anime and i found that the entire sequence of Morita riding the scooter thing to make it to his class was so much funnier. it's one of my faves currently running in the mag.

I am now beginning to get the same feelings of boredom that I got when watching the anime. It's just way too slow paced for me. Also, I'm not so much into the whole "there's one girl and ALL the guys are in love with her" thing (exaggerating, yes, but there still are a lot of them falling for the same girl).

I've actually found myself getting more into it, as I've continued, but it's still not really a "must-read" for me. But, yeah, I will concede that it suffers a bit from being a sausage-fest. Even when other women are shown in the characters' lives, it appears they're deliberately marginalized in favor of the men.

I don't know how it comes across like that. With three major women love interests and only four main male characters interacting with them(discounting the Yamada fan club around her families store/at school, which is just for comedy), I never got that feeling. Perhaps it seems more that way early on.
Really though, if you don't like slice of life at all, don't even bother. |

Really, there are three? So far, I can only thing of one (the small girl whose name I don't remember). Pretty much all the characters we've seen to this point have been the main guys (which is interesting, in a shoujo manga). |

Hagu. There's also Rika and Ayumi, I think they were introduced in the latest issue. It's more josei than shojo really, and I actually kind of like that the manga tends to showcase the boys' perspective more often than the girls'. It's kind of interesting. |
