So, the thing this manga lost points for is the thing that made me want to read it: the characters start off pretty unlikable. It's not that I hate it when characters start off strong and noble... But I find them more realistic and relatable when they've got issues. Especially when those issues are played for laughs, and Komomo's defiintely are. This manga has a strange sense of humor, but I like it! Natsu... I don't know how I feel about him yet. Haha, it's kind of a twisted relationship. But I'm digging this manga so far.

I'm with Hakajin, love Komomo and kinda iffy on Natsu (so far).
The humor really clicked with me in this volume. Komomo is the pampered princess, and I never felt like I was required to feel sympathy for the character during this volume. She is in a hard situation, and can only deal with it in the manner that she is doing.
I look forward to seeing how Komomo will change over time.
Natsu...don't really know if I like him or not. While I can understand that he is getting some sort of twisted revenge on Komomo, there are times where it seems like he's not really fulfilled in doing so. I think that, some of that may have to do with how Komomo is dealing with it.
At times, she doesn't seem to notice that what he is doing is meant to be mean. But she isn't totally oblivious to his actions, what with her shot at Natsu through the orders she places with suppliers.
Personally, loved how this series has started. Definitely going to be buying the whole thing, 4 more volumes left.

The plot reminds me of the josei manga Butterflies, Flowers in which a woman finds out her new, sadistic boss was a servant (or child of a servant) of her family's before they went broke. The manga seemed to revel in their abusive relationship, and I didn't stick around to see if it got better.

While I don't know where your threshold for this kind of story is, I can't say that Natsu really does anything bad to Komomo in this volume. It pretty much boils down to making Komomo "work hard". Which, is hard in and of itself, cause she doesn't really know how to work.
Though, there is a bit of a sadistic side to the character too. Natsu does mention that he liked seeing Komomo cry when she ate his sweets, when they were kids.
Still, Natsu is at a stage where some developments/reveals could change things. So, I'm not willing to slap that label on him just yet.

I've finished this manga a long time ago, and it is quite good, but very short for a Minami Maki series.
Anyway, Komomo is indeed very likeable after awhile because well she had a good character development. And I mean a good one.
She even befriended an enemy. Lol. And became best buds.
Natsu's part was revealed after awhile although kinda already obvious why he's like that. [/spoiler]

Yep, this one being on the shorter side is why I picked it up. Well, part of why. The other is that I enjoyed the Special A anime, and Minami Maki made the manga for that series.
Eventually, I want to get around to grabbing Special A. But, won't be doing that just yet (cause $$$), so will grab something else from the mangaka. I may also end up checking out Voice Over.
