This is great news. It's been over a year since his cancer diagnosis, and since I am a huge fan of Sakamoto-san's work, I had been wonder quite regularly how he was doing.
I wish him a quick recovery to health and many more longer years of life. |

I'm so happy to read this. He's such an incredibly talented man and one of my favorite musicians. I hope we can hear many
more of his works for years to come. |

While I may have not heard his music, it is certainly nice to know that such a talent is doing well after such treatment. To me, out of all the diseases to hear that someone can be diagnosed with, few are as jaw-dropping or shocking as cancer or an STD.

I'm very happy for Ryuichi Sakamoto's return to good health. Currently listening to the Royal Space Force OST.
His daughter Miu Sakamoto (lyricist for songs River of Crystals, and Follow Me from Ghost In The Shell: Innocence) has just had a daughter herself: so Ryuichi Sakamoto has just become a grandfather. |

Great! Hope Ryuichi recovers soon.
This reminds me, how long has it been since he sung on an album of his? The glut of soundtracks & his penchant for inviting foreign guest vocalists has obscured his own singing over the last 2 decades. I wonder if he'll be able to sing as well as did in the 80s after this. |

Ah, the very first album I ever bought in CD format (I was a very late adapter) was Ryuichi Sakamoto's Beauty. This was well before I was into anime or anything else Japanese-related-- I was just drawn in by the album cover, to be honest. And the best song on the album is Sakamoto himself singing "Asadoya Yunta," a modern version of a traditional Okinawan song. It's good to know he's doing well.
